Reese Witherspoon’s UC Berkeley daughter discusses sexuality
To some, Ava Phillippe barely may be known as Reese Witherspoon’s daughter, but to others, the UC Berkeley student is a popular, up-and-coming influencer with nearly a million followers who care a lot about what she has to say about beauty, fashion, and, most recently, gender and sexuality.
Indeed, as reported by People, Phillippe, 22, was very candid in an “Ask Me Anything” Instagram Story chat with her followers, when one asked: “Do u like boys or girls?” Phillippe happily wrote: “I’m attracted to … people! (Gender is whatever).”
Phillippe, whose father is actor Ryan Phillippe, previously revealed in 2019 that she was in a relationship with fellow UC Berkeley student Owen Mahoney. She made their relationship Instagram official after they met at Berkeley, and People reported that he had joined her family on vacation last summer.
However, it’s not known if Phillippe and Mahoney still are together.
Her mother has won a best actress Academy Award and become a powerhouse Hollywood producer, acting in and producing such hit series as “Big Little Lies” and “The Morning Show.” Phillippe told her followers that her her life would be “very” different if her parents had not been famous.
“That said though, I wouldn’t change a thing,” she said, according to People. “The good and the notso-good all made me who I am and gave me so many amazing opportunities. My parents get to do what they love, which is super cool.”
Certainly, Phillippe’s 996,000 followers is a small number in comparison to her movie star mother, who commands 27 million, but Phillippe has been able to leverage her following into a partnership with lucrative beauty, fashion and lifestyle brands to promote their products.
Perhaps Phillippe’s Ivy Park fees will help pay for her tuition and housing at Berkeley. With regard to Phillippe’s comments about gender and sexuality, her mother is known as a longtime ally of the LGBTQ community, according to PinkNews.
