Sharon left us suddenly on Friday morning February 25, 2022. She was loving, caring and generous, especially when it came to family. If a family member was in need, Sharon was the first to jump in, providing love, solace, advise and financial help if needed. Her love knew no bounds for her only son, Thomas and grandson, Knox. They will miss her dearly. She also leaves behind her Daughter-in-law Maricar Borden and two sisters, Dolores Butterfield and Linda Beardsley both of Morro Bay, California as well as many loving nieces and nephews. Sharon was born in Montebello, California to Albert and Ella Bafford. Sharon lived in various places in Southern California with her family and many close Aunts and Uncles. The Bafford clan was a convivial group and spent many enjoyable summers camping at Refugio State Park, enjoying boating, fishing, water-skiing and generally having a wonderful time. The fathers would leave for work on Mondays and return on Fridays with fresh provisions and the mothers and kids would stay to play and maintain the camp. Later in her teenage years, the family relocated to Morro Bay, where Sharon attended Morro Bay High School. She had an adventurous spirit, she and her girlfriends loved to attend the Weekend Dances at the Veterans Memorial Hall in Cayucos, California. It was there where she met her husband to be, Jerry Borden who had just graduated from the neighboring high school in Cambria, California. They were married at a young age and grew up together, she selflessly maintaining the household and their young son while Jerry spent many months away serving his country in the U.S. Navy. They later moved to Mountain View California after Jerry received his Bachelor of Science degree at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo and started his career at Philco Ford in Palo Alto. Sharon, at that point, decided it was time to return to Academia and subsequently earned her Bachelor of Science Degree, Summa Cum Laude, in Political Science from San Jose State University. During her senior year, she interned at the city of Sunnyvale. After graduation, she began her professional career as an analyst in the Human Relations Department at the City of San Jose, concluding as an Administrative Officer in the Finance Department, where she spent 26 years serving its employees and citizens. In retirement she enjoyed traveling to Hawaii with all its tropical wonders. She carried that home to her immaculate yard and garden she lovingly nurtured with its palm trees, torch ginger and giant bird of paradise. Not to mention the bountiful harvests of fruits and vegetables that she would share with the neighborhood, friends and family. Her love for her yard was only outdone by her love of the Holidays. Christmas was a time of celebration that will never be the same without her! She will be missed more than words can tell.
