Finally, relief … Camp Roberts rest stops to reopen in April
Q Gary, I need help after spending a goodly amount of time on the Caltrans website. I can't find any information on when the Camp Roberts southbound rest stop (and others) will finally reopen. Can you find out the current information and timeline?

Q Any idea if the Camp Roberts rest stop is open yet? After searching the internet at length, the latest information I could find said it would be reopening in early 2023. Since this particular rest area has been closed more than it has been open over the last 10 years, we have an alternate stop for our dogs, but I'm not willing to publicize it to the masses.

A Caltrans reports that they are looking at mid-April for completion of the Camp Roberts rest stops. Also, the Caltrans Quickmap app has an option where you can click on rest areas. The map populates and shows you the location and status of all the rest areas.
Q I drive south on Highway 101 in Sunnyvale to work each day. For the last four weeks at Lawrence, there has been a terrible dust and gravel mess in the road. The cloud of dust is visible in the air and there is the sound of pebbles being thrown up and hitting all over the car. I even have a visible chip on my windshield now. Is there some way for Caltrans to do street cleaning on freeways?
A Caltrans will be out to sweep roads in this area soon, including the freeway. There has been a lot of construction in this area recently.
Q Soon to be posted at your local gas station: Regular $4.699; Mid-Grade $4.899; Premium $5.199; Broken Nozzle $149.999.

A And depending on the gas station, that broken nozzle price may be much higher.
Q After reading about the “yellow glasses” solution to bright headlights, here is what I'm doing lately.
I lower my sun visor and sit more upright in my seat. The visor blocks the lights for vehicles far away. I can adjust how far out I'm looking by lowering or raising my body. I can always see close-in features like center line and road edges, but don't need to look at vehicles until the last second and, at that point, I can look at the white line on the road edge if I'm lucky enough to be on a road with these lines still visible. (This is also a pitch to let road maintenance teams know how helpful these lines are.)
A Thanks for letting us know what is working for you.
