The Bottom Line: What is a HR-V? The HR-V is a subcompact crossover SUV built in the Celaya, Guanajuato, Mexico assembly plant, and sold in North America by Honda. The HR-V model name officially stands for HighRider Revolutionary Vehicle. There are some who would also call it a Hip & Smart Runabout Vehicle. Either way, the all new HR-V features elevated styling, innovative technology and has comfort to spare, with the versatility to take you to school, the mall, and then on to college to get your degree.

The 2023 Honda HR-V is not only longer than it was before, but it’s also wider as well. With the new model year updates, the new HR-V gained 9.4 inches in length, and 2.6 inches in width. This growth resulted in a wheelbase that is 1.7 inches longer than the previous model.

Honda is telling car shoppers that their favorite subcompact crossover SUV is sporting a whole new look for the 2023 model year, and it’s just getting better. The 2023 Honda HR-V is offered in three trim levels: LX, Sport, and EX-L. We think the best buy is a HR-V EX-L with AWD. It is loaded with equipment, has all wheel drive for stability and traction, and including wireless charging and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

This week Honda sent me a 2023 HR-V 5 door EX-L subcompact AWD SUV to test drive and review. The base window sticker price for this AWD EX-L model starts at $28,950.
