Tory Lanez took to Instagram to proclaim his innocence days after he was sentenced for shooting Megan Thee Stallion in both of her feet, telling fans he was “wrongfully convicted,” and that he will continue to fight to clear his name.

“I have never let a hard time intimidate me. I will never never let no jail time eliminate me. Regardless of how they try to spin my words, I have always maintained my innocence and I always will,” the rapper, whose legal name is Daystar Peterson, said in a statement Thursday night.

Lanez was sentenced on Tuesday to 10 years behind bars for the shooting, which occurred after a swanky party at Kylie Jenner's Los Angeles mansion in July 2020. Megan said they were driving away from the Hollywood Hills bash along with Lanez's bodyguard and another friend when an argument ensued and she demanded to be let out of the SUV.

Megan said Lanez then shot at her as she tried to walk away, striking her in both feet. He was found guilty in December of each of the three charges he faced — assault with a semiautomatic firearm; having a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle; and discharging a firearm with gross negligence.

“This week in court I took responsibility for all verbal and intimate moments that I shared with the parties involved. … That's it,” Lanez wrote on Instagram.

“In no way shape or form was I apologizing for the charges I'm being wrongfully convicted of,” he continued. “I remain on the stance that I refuse to apologize for something that I did not do.”
