Yamagami Garden Center

-

Is it time to refresh your gardens and you hope the process will bring you joy? People who never thought they had a green thumb have discovered joy in all stages of gardening projects by starting at Yamagami’s Nursery and Garden Center in Cupertino.

From professional landscape designers to DIYers wanting to create their own beautiful outdoor spaces filled with thriving plant life, Yamagami’s is where Silicon Valley goes for the best selection, helpful service and surprisingly good prices.

Here, the wide array of garden products is only the beginning. The owners and staff want everyone who visits to feel welcome and relaxed in the Japanese garden setting and to learn how to help their own gardens bloom for generations.

With a rich history and deep sense of community dating back to the original owner, Taro Yamagami, the garden center has been family-owned and operated nursery since 1948. Taro Yamagami himself is credited with designing many beloved landscapes in Silicon Valley; he was the first licensed landscape architect in California but started his nursery as a modest fruit stand in San Jose.

By the 1950s, Yamagami had hired a member of the Oka family to help at the nursery, starting a tradition that led to the Oka family’s ownership since 1963.

Customers appreciate the attentive professionals on staff who are eager to explain and demonstrate the methods of planting and caring all kinds of gardens. Yamagami’s Garden Guides – online and in-store – provided details on best practices for every kind of plant life, including indoor plants.

Yamagami’s even has a workbench area, where customers can use the garden center’s materials to plant their own purchases and make them look just like the ones on display.
