Richard Moore, 83, of Harleysville
Richard H. “Dick” Moore, 83, of Harleysville, formally of Gilbertsville, passed away on January 2, 2013, at his residence. He was born in Huntington, W.Va., to the late William Truman and Cora Mae (Hood) Moore.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Janice Lee (Farley), and five children, Melanie K. Miller, Mark D. Moore, Matthew F. Moore, Melissa G. Moore and Leslie C. Moore; eight grandchildren; four greatgrandchildren; one brother, Joseph F. Moore; and one sister, Lila M. King.
After high school he enlisted in the U. S. Army and served in the Korean War. He then attended Marshall University in Huntington, W.Va., where he graduated with a B.A. in journalism. He worked in advertising at the International Nickel Co. in Huntington until offered a position as advertising manager at Techalloy Inc., Rahns, Pa., and relocated to the Keystone State in 1967. Three years later he accepted the position of district sales manager for the Mid-Atlantic States at Techalloy. He was then promoted to regional sales manager until he retired. He also served as a Boy Scout Master and Sunday school teacher for several years. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who loved spending time enjoying his family. Among his greatest passions was the game of golf.
A brief memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2013, starting at 2 p.m. at Holcombe Funeral Home, 21 W. Main St., Trappe. The family will receive friends until 4 p.m.
