Kirkpatrick, Hagner help SOL A/C to Carpenter Cup win
Methacton’s Tyler Kirkpatrick homered and teammate Trip Hagner doubled and scored a run to help Suburban One League American/Continental defeat Philadelphia Catholic 8-3 in a Carpenter Cup Classic first-round game Monday at Ashburn Field in FDR Park.
SOL American/Continental advances to Friday’s 2:30 p.m. quarterfinal back at Ashburn Field against the winner of today’s Berks County/Tri-Cape game.
The righty-swinging Kirkpatrick delivered an opposite-field solo blast in a three-run first that set the tone.
“Just sitting fastball, and I just took it that way,” Kirkpatrick said. “He (the opposing pitcher) was working a lot outside with his arm slot, so you just got to take it that way. And it worked out.”
Methacton’s Clayton Harwick also played for SOL A/C, going 0-for-3.
