Major, Engler named AllAmericans
Spring-Ford senior Paul Major and Boyertown senior Rachel Engler were recently selected as United States Lacrosse All-Americans out of the Philadelphia Region.
The University of Delaware-bound Major led the Rams to a third straight Pioneer Athletic Conference title this season. Major, who was voted the Most Valuable Player in the PAC-10 by the league’s coaches this spring, finished his superb career with 250 goals.
The Rutgers Universitybound Engler led the Bears to a 10th straight PAC-10 championship this season and a trip to the first round of the PIAA playoffs. She finished the season with 100 goals and 22 assists.

Eight of the 25 boys players selected to represent Pennsylvania hail from The Mercury’s coverage area, while three local females were chosen.
Perkiomen Valley rising seniors attack Sean Tornetta and goalie Bryce Womack and Spring-Ford rising sophomore midfielders Matt Dellacroce and Carter Gensler will represent PAC-10 schools. Tornetta was a PAC-10 first team selection this season while Womack, a three-year starter, was a PAC-10 second team pick. Dellacroce was voted to the PAC-10 first team as a short stick specialist.
Hill School rising sophomore Jake Saenz, an East Greenville resident, has also been selected to the showcase event.
Pottstown resident Nolan Little, a Bishop Shanahan rising junior, Schwenksville resident Colin MacDougall, a rising senior goalie at La Salle, and Gilbertsville resident Luke Hoffman, a rising junior at Malvern Prep, were also selected out of Pennsylvania.
On the girls side, Spring-Ford rising seniors Kira Gensler and Julianna Radzinski and Perkiomen Valley rising junior goalie Harley Barrett were selected.
*** Players from the Pioneer Athletic Conference will meet one last time next Tuesday when the league will hold the first PAC-10 Boys Lacrosse Senior Bowl, Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m. at Pottsgrove High School.
All eight league teams will be represented in the mixed-team format. Team Evolution will be coached by Spring-Ford’s Kevin Donnelly, Methacton’s Nathanial Ryan, Perkiomen Valley’s Bryan Churchey and Phoenixville’s Grady Wise. Team Maverick will be led by Owen J. Roberts’ Jeff Neese, Boyertown’s Geoff Davidson, Pope John Paul II’s Matt McMillen and Pottsgrove’s Fred Michaels.
