Ex-convict charged in sex assault of 2 boys
PHOENXVILLE >> A man who already served time for sexual crimes is facing additional charges involving boys from Phoenixville.
Adrian Kahl, 41, of Waymart, Wayne County, is facing two sets of charges alleging that he had engaged in sexual acts with two young boys.
According to court records, two victims alleged that they had sexual encounters with Kahl. The incidents were reported in 2015 and 2016. One victim, a 10-year-old boy, alleged that Kahl had performed sexual acts on him when hewas very young and that the incidents would occur daily in various rooms of Kahl’s Phoenixville home, according to court documents.
Another victim, a 17-year-old boy, told police that when he was about 10 years old Kahl had performed sexual acts on him and made him do the same, court records indicate. The victim alleged that these incidents occurred in Kahl’s home in Phoenixville and that, following the incident, Kahl instructed the victim not to tell anyone.
According to previous reports in The Phoenix Reporter & Item, Kahl was sentenced to five years in prison in 2008 after pleading guilty to charges of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and corruption of minors. The victim, who was 14 at the time, and his family, had been living with Kahl and his wife and children while looking for a new place to live.
The victim told police that he was asleep on a sofa in the living room and awoke to find Kahl kneeling on the floor beside him, trying to perform a sexual act on him. He said that Kahl quickly got up and left the room.
The victim and his family stayed in the house for a fewmore days before moving out and reporting the incident to police.
Kahl was evaluated following the 2008 incident by the state Sex-
ual Offenders Assessment Board and the board’s evaluator, psychologist Bruce Mapes, ruled that he was not a sexually violent predator, reports said.
Recent charges against Kahl include involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, indecent assault on a person less than 13 years of age, endangering the welfare of children, corruption of minors and rape of a child. He was arraigned on the 2015 charges on Dec. 1, 2015 before District Judge
Theodore Michaels and arraigned on the 2016 charges on Feb. 29, 2016 also before Michaels.
A preliminary hearing for both sets of charges is scheduled for March 30 again before Michaels. He is being held at Waymart State Correctional Institution.
