Drugs, alcohol violations are leading crime this week

POTTSTOWN >> The leading crime in Pottstown within the past week has been drug or alcohol related crimes.

According to crimemapping.com, a policerun website used to in-form residents about crime in their area, five cases of drug possession were reported, along with a drug sale and an incident involving public drunkenness. Possessions were reported on North Washington Street, the 300 block of South Street, the 100 block of East High Street and the 400 block of Lincoln Avenue. Public drunkenness occurred on North Hanover Street and a drug sale was reported on the 600 block of North Charlotte Street.

Five incidents involving vandalism were also reported. Three incidents on the 1100 block of Queen Street, South Roland Street and the 100 block of Myrtle Street involved vandalism to vehicles. Another case of vandalism was reported on Oak Street as well as vandalism to buildings on the 100 block of High Street.

Six assaults occurred within the past week including three non-aggravated assaults on the 100 block of North York Street, the 300 block of King Street and the 500 block of Lincoln Avenue. Two assaults with firearms were also reported on North Evans Street and the 1000 block of North Adams Street as well as one involving hands, feet and fists on the 500 block of Chestnut Street.

Five cases of disturbing the peace were reported including one incident involving disorderly conduct on the 200 block of Shoemaker Road and four cases of harassment on South Charlotte Street, the 300 block of North Evans Street, the 100 block of North Franklin Street and the 100 block of South Price Street.

Three retail thefts and one theft from buildings were reported in the past week. A theft from buildings was reported on East High Street and all three retail thefts occurred on the 200 block of Shoemaker Road.

Three burglaries occurred on the 200 block of Walnut Street, the 200 block of North Evans Street and the 800 block of Hale Street.

One incident each was also reported involving fraud, robbery, motor vehicle theft, DUI and thefts from vehicles. The theft from a vehicle was reported on the 1000 block of Beech Street along with a motor vehicle theft that occurred on the 400 block of North Evans Street. A robbery was reported on the 300 block of North Evans Street along with a fraud incident on Reynolds Avenue and a DUI on the 800 block of Glasgow Street.
