Feola leaves district’s top post
School board to discuss her departure at Tuesday meeting
LOWER POTTSGROVE >> Pottsgrove School District Superintendant Shellie A. Feola is planning to leave her post as the district’s top administrator.
In a call to The Mercury Thursday, Pottsgrove School Board President Rick Rabinowitz stated that although he cannot comment further on the matter, the board plans to make a statement about Feola’s departure at Tuesday night’s meeting.
According to the email obtained by The Sanatoga Post, an online community website, Feola indicated she has decided “to separate with the Pottsgrove School District Board of Education” and that she will “always cherish the years spent in Potts-
grove with the many outstanding educators and staff.”
The email did not elaborate on Feola’s reasons for leaving her $180,000-a-year post. Feola was named superintendent in December 2012. Her current five-year contract with the Pottsgrove School District expires in June 2017. The email from Feola published by the Post read:
“Colleagues, It is with mixed emotions that I have made a mutual decision to separate with the Pottsgrove School District Board of Education. I am proud of what we have collaboratively accomplished during my tenure for the benefit of our students. Our vision for student success has included implementation of full day kindergarten for all of our students, the development and implementation of rigorous curricula to better prepare our students for college, careers and beyond, a digital learning environment for our students which has earned us the invitation for application as an Apple Distinguished Program, and a significant and successful renovation to our high school facility to include flexible learning spaces which will serve our students for years to come. I will always cherish the years spent in Pottsgrove with the many outstanding educators and staff, and I am confident that you will continue to move the district forward in a positive direction! Tuesday’s school board meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. in the district office board room, 1301 Kauffman Road, Lower Pottsgrove.
