Robert William Bechtel Sr., 79

Robert William Bechtel Sr., 79, passed away peacefully on September 29, 2016 in Parkhouse Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Royersford, PA. He was the husband of Marcia Adele (Swank) Bechtel for 51 years. He is also survived by two sons, Robert W. Bechtel, Jr. of East Coventry and Christopher C. Bechtel, of Womelsdorf, and a daughter, Susan (Bechtel) Delaney, wife of John Delaney from Royersford. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Joseph Ryan Delaney, Thomas Michael Delaney and Justin Reis Delaney.

Robert was born at home in East Coventry on October 5, 1936; and was a son of the late J. William Bechtel and Irma Mae (Shantz) Bechtel. Surviving are two brothers, John E. Bechtel, of East Coventry and Gene Bechtel, of East Coventry. He also had one late sister, Laura Mae (Bechtel) Dolente, and two late brothers, Thomas Bechtel and Kenneth Bechtel.

Robert graduated from Spring City High School in 1954. He then served active duty in the U.S. Army from 1960-1961 and was honorably discharge in 1965. Robert was employed at Jones Motor Co., then Scout Trucking Co., then PJax Trucking Co. and finally he worked for 10 years for the SpringFord School District before his retirement. Robert was also a member of Bethel United Methodist Church for 54 years.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family on Monday, October 3, 2016 at Bethel United Methodist Church, 952 Bethel Church Road, Spring City, PA 19475 between the hours of 11:00 am and 12:00 pm, following which there will be a funeral service at the church. Officiating will be Rev. Jacqueline A. Hines. Interment with military honors will follow in the Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
