OJR’s Lee rolls into PAC Singles semifinals

Top seed and defending champion Meredith Lee of Owen J. Roberts didn’t drop a game while cruising into the Pioneer Athletic Conference Singles Championsh­ips semifinals at Kinetix Sports Club.

Top seed and defending champion Meredith Lee of Owen J. Roberts didn’t drop a game Friday while cruising into the Pioneer Athletic Conference Singles Championsh­ips semifinals at Kinetix Sports Club.

Lee will be joined in the Final Four by the other top four seeds, Phoenixvil­le’s Julia Gumieniak (No. 2), Spring-Ford’s Tori Alexander (No. 3) and Methacton’s Dina Nouaime (No. 4).

Gumieniak dropped two games in each of her matches, topping Methacton No. 2 Tina Prince, 6-2, 6-0, to advance to the semifinals.

Alexander faced the toughest challenge by coming up clutch to rally past Owen J. Roberts’ No. 2 Elaina Lee, 2-6, 7-6, 7-5. Nouaime dropped just two games in three matches.

Elaina Lee, Prince, Spring-Ford No. 2 Kathryn Alvarez and Methacton No. 3 Sydnie Markowitz remain in contention for districts by reaching the quarterfin­als. Pottstown’s top two, Gianna Epps and Alivia Lopez, will represent the PAC in the District 1-AA field.

Action will resume Saturday at 2 p.m. at Kinetix.

Field hockey

SPRING-FORD 4, COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 3 >> Caroline Todd’s two first-half goals got the Rams off to a good start toward their eventual non-league victory over the Hawks.

Katelyn Crist followed Todd in the scoring column, helping stake SpringFord to a 3-1 halftime lead. Clare Kennedy added a second-half tally while Lexie Nugent was credited with the assist on Todd’s second score. UPPER PERKIOMEN 7, QUAKERTOWN 0 >> The Indians improved to 11-1 on the season while getting three goals from Abriana Gatto and two goals and two assists from Hope Flack. Also scoring for UP were Kathryn Lehman (two assists) and Kaylie Siwy (one assist).

PERKIOMEN VALLEY 1, DELCO CHRISTIAN 0 >> The Vikings registered their eighth consecutiv­e shutout while getting three-save goalkeepin­g from Leslie Adams. Kelsey Marino broke the deadlock on a through ball from Maggie Sell late in the second half for the game-winner.

PV outshot Delco Christian 20-4. WILSON 2, BOYERTOWN 0 >> The Bulldogs scored late in each half to down the Bears in a non-league meeting.

Kayla Pennington scored through traffic in the 35th minute for Wilson while Alli Lasky sealed it in the 75th minute on a rebound. Boyertown keeper Ashley Petitjean made six saves; Wilson counterpar­t Darcie Jones stopped five for the clean sheet. PERKIOMEN SCHOOL 6, SOLEBURY 0 >> Sasha Vassallo had three goals while Helana Tang, Mikayla Matthews and Maeve Gleeson each added solo tallies for the Panthers. PENN CHARTER 3, HILL SCHOOL 1 >> Penn Charter’s Gi Demarco capped her hat trick to seal the win after Hill’s Hannah Delahaye sparked the Blues’ comeback bid in the second half.

PERKIOMEN VALLEY 3, MERION MERCY 2 >> The Vikings prevailed in five sets, 2125, 26-24, 23-25, 25-15, 1513. The Vikings offense, going through Ellie Min (42 assists), was led by Helena Clauhs (20 kills, 4 blocks) and Jess Oltman (13 kills). PHOENIXVIL­LE 3, BALDWIN 0>> The Phantoms took control after a tight first game to sweep, 26-24, 2514, 25-13. Phoenixvil­le leaders were Alex Poloway (10 aces, 5 digs), Kayla Grammersto­rf (4 aces, 1 kill, 10 blocks) and Romina Broglia (5 aces, 3 kills, 14 digs). METHACTON 3, OWEN J. ROBERTS 0 >> The Warriors swept 25-14, 25-14, 25-13. Methacton leaders were Rainah Dunham (9 kills), Carli Ginther (8 kills, 10 assists, 5 aces) and Ashley Newman (10 digs, 12 service points). OJR leaders were Lena Nguyen (11 digs), Michelle Frank (7 digs, 6 kills), Chloe Golas (3 kills, 4 digs) and Lily Jakielasze­k (9 digs). VALLEY FORGE BAPTIST 3, WEST-MONT CHRISTIAN 0 >> The Wings fell in three games, 25-16, 25-20, 25-20.
