St. Luke’S Lutheran

Obelisk: The mid-week Lenten service will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, Route 73 and Neiffer Road. The senior choir will lead the service in Holden Evening Prayer each Wednesday evening during Lent.

Good Shepherd UCC

Boyertown: Lenten Service will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at Good Shepherd United Church of Christ, 35 W. Philadelph­ia Ave. All are welcome.

First Presbyteri­an

Pottstown: A Living Waters for the World meeting will be held after the 10:30 a.m. worship service on Sunday at First Presbyteri­an Church. The Prime Timers will be gathering at 5 p.m. in Fellowship Hall for a potluck dinner and hymn sing.

Bethel UMC

Spring City: The Union of Churches Lenten Service will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at St. Matthews United Church of Christ, Chester Springs.

St. James UCC

Limerick: Two free opportunit­ies for the practice of meditation will be offered to the community whether a beginner or experience­d with meditation. The meditation groups will be held from March 7 through April 6 on Tuesdays from 10 to 10:45 a.m. and on Thursdays from 7 to 7:45 p.m. at St. James United Church of Christ, 321 S. Limerick Road. Rev. Anne Cormier will lead the group in learning about the energy centers of our bodies, how to prepare for meditation to optimize your experience of connection to the divine, and will guide the group through an active meditation process based on the prayer of St. Frances of Assisi. Please arrive a few minutes early so the group can start promptly. Following each meditation group, the church is offering a study and discussion group on the power of forgivenes­s. St. James Lutheran

Limerick: Twelve young people will receive their first Holy Communion at weekend services at St. James Lutheran Church, 93 Kugler Road. They are Carter Dakota, Kennedy Fisher, Katie Higgins, Leah Koons, Megan Kurian, Sadie Paxon, Helene Pritchard, Michael Rapp, Mike Saboe, Brady Seislove, Carrie Valente and Kyle Walters. The youth will serve a dinner at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Devotions, discussion and music will be part of the Lenten service.

First UCC

Royersford: Kathy Bieski will be substitute pianist at the 11 a.m. worship service on Sunday at First United Church of Christ, 367 Washington St. Members will attend and support the annual Spring-Ford Rotary Breakfast Buffet.

St. Luke Lutheran

Gilbertsvi­lle: The Community Clothing Rack will be open for drop off from 1 to 4 p.m. on Wednesday on the lower level of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church. Wednesday night will be the first midweek Lenten service. The focus of this year’s midweek services is the Cathechism. The soup supper will be held in Memorial Hall from 6 to 7 p.m.

Zion’s UCC

Pottstown: Sunday worship continues in the Chapel Building at Zion’s United Church of Christ, Hanover and Chestnut streets, as sanctuary painting and organ repairs continue. Women’s Fellowship will meet at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Eleanor Mauger will lead the worship and Betty Leister and Cheryl Drake are hostesses. The Spring Street Songsters will provide entertainm­ent. All are welcome. The church is participat­ing in the collection of eyeglasses through Women Aglow in Pottstown. The glasses will be sent to Honduras. A basket is available in the Chapel Building through March 12. Congregati­onal Directorie­s are now available for pickup.

St. John’s UCC

Pottstown: A social hour will follow the 10:15 a.m. service on Sunday at St. John’s United Church of Christ, 11 S. Price St. Orders are still being taken for peanut butter Easter eggs.

Trinity UCC

Pottstown: The “Drop In Center” at Trinity United Church of Christ, 60 N. Hanover St., will continue to operate through the month of April at the church. St. Peter’s Lutheran

Pottstown: The Lenten imaginary walk to Jerusalem continues after the 10:30 a.m. worship service on Sunday at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 564 Glasgow St., with a “Wittenberg Luncheon” featuring a sampling of German foods. A short video on Wittenberg will be shown plus a recap on the walking participan­ts’ progress. The five-week Lenten Services will present a special series of services for Lent entitled “At The Crossroads.” Wednesday, March 8, begins Week One with the Crossroads of Betrayal.

St. Paul’s UCC

Pottstown: The Wednesday Evening Lenten Series will continue on at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The theme for this week will be “Silent Nights and Solitary Days”— The Burden of Loneliness.

Mount Carmel UMC

St. Peters: Volunteers from Mount Carmel United Methodist Church, 2203 Harmonyvil­le Road, will meet in St. Peters today for the “Good Works Program,” an organizati­on that helps those in need of home repairs. For more informatio­n please call the church at 610-469-9151. The choir will resume rehearsal on Sunday before the 10 a.m. service under the direction of Dr. James Wells. Refreshmen­ts will be available on Sunday after the 10 a.m. service. Everyone is welcome.

Bethel Community

Pottstown: Tickets for the Latin American Style Jazz Concert featuring Bennie Sims will be on sale from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. today and immediatel­y following service on Sunday at Bethel Community Church, 575 N. Keim St. Donation is $40. The Choir will be singing at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday under direction of Don Corey Washington, director of music, along with special music by Arnetta Morgan and Herbie Weaver.

St. Peter’s Episcopal

Phoenixvil­le: A Refugee Resettleme­nt Seminar will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 121 Church St. The seminar will be presented by Rev. Sturgis Poorman, a native of Ardmore. Rev. Poorman was ordained as a Presbyteri­an minister in 1970 and has served churches in West Hebron, N.Y., Harare, Zimbabwe and Phoenixvil­le. In 1999 Rev. Poorman founded “Welcoming the Stranger,” an educationa­l ministry with immigrants and refugees in Lower Bucks County. Since that time, over 3,000 adult students from 100 different countries have benefited from this program. After his retirement in 2015, Rev Poorman began volunteeri­ng with refugee resettleme­nt programs in the Philadelph­ia area. He currently gives his time to Bethany Christian Services, one of the four government approved area refugee resettleme­nt agencies. Recently, in his role as Parish Associate at Ardmore Presbyteri­an Church, Rev. Poorman has helped to develop “First Place,” a transition­al home in Ardmore for newly arrived refugees to the U.S. For more informatio­n about the Refugee Resettleme­nt Seminar, contact The Rev.
