Kenneth A. Wickstrom, 89, widower of Lillie (Sandlin) Wickstrom, died Sunday, March 19, 2017 at Manatawny Manor.

Born in Cambridge, Minnesota to Miles and Hilda (Miller) Wickstrom, Ken attended Cambridge High School and the University of Minnesota, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Forestry. After serving in the US Army during the Korean War, he worked for the U.S. Forest Service, surveying timber in the Superior National Forest. Ken eventually gained employment with the Western Electric Co., in Louisville, KY, where he first met Lil, his wife of nearly sixty years. He served in the engineerin­g and quality control department­s in NYC and eventually in King of Prussia, PA.

Ken cared deeply for, and was active in the Phoenixvil­le community. He was a member of both St. John’s Lutheran Church, and the Kiwanis Club. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, golf and traveling with Lil. He loved spending time with his children and grandchild­ren.

Ken is survived by his three children, Karen Carr, wife of Randy of Spring City; Susan Kane, wife of Jim of Pottstown, and Keith Wickstrom, husband of Tammy of Phoenixvil­le, and six grandchild­ren: Andrew, Dave, Molly, Bridget, Hayley and Chloe.

A memorial service will be held at 11A.M. on Friday, March 31, 2017 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 355 St Johns Circle, Phoenixvil­le, with The Rev. Cynthia Krommes officiatin­g. A gathering and light lunch will follow. In lieu of flowers, contributi­ons can be made in Ken’s memory to the Good Samaritan Shelter at www.goodsamshe­lter.org

All arrangemen­ts are being handled by Shalkop, Grace & Strunk FH, 135 Bridge Street, Spring City, PA. Burial will be private. Online tributes can be made at www.sgsfuneral­home.com
