Man in car that plunged into river identified

HARRISBURG, PA. >> A central Pennsylvania coroner has released the name of a man whose body was recovered after a car plunged into the Susquehanna River last week.

The Dauphin County coroner’s office said 29-year-old Azaine Nickens of Harrisburg was pronounced dead on Tuesday afternoon, hours after the early morning crash.

Police in Harrisburg said the car was heading west on Division Street when it hit a curb and went into the river at about 5:45 a.m. Tuesday.

Sgt. Raymond Lyda said the river’s depth of 10 feet or more along with a fast current made the recovery “a grueling process.”

The coroner’s office said a ruling on the cause and manner of death is pending toxicology tests.
