Lindsay slams Rams past Vikings

Pitcher does it in circle as well in Spring-Ford’s 5-1 win

Spring-Ford’s Sam Lindsay got it done in the circle and at the dish to lead the Rams past Perkiomen Valley in a rematch of last year’s Pioneer Athletic Conference final, 5-1 in eight innings.

Tied at 1 entering the top half of the eighth, the sophomore belted a grand slam home run to cap off the Rams comeback after they trailed 1-0 entering the seventh inning. Lindsay complement­ed her big swing with a shutdown effort in the circle, allowing only one hit and one run (zero earned) while striking out two.

Her effort outshined the one of Perkiomen Valley’s Abby Wild, who had allowed just one hit entering the seventh inning. The Rams tied the game after getting their first two runners and then struck for the big eighth inning after the first three Rams reached via two walks and a throwing error to set up Lindsay.

Lindsay finished with two hits in the win. Taylor Hamm had the only hit for PV. UPPER PERKIOMEN 6, QUAKERTOWN 4>> Scoring three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning gave the Indians enough of a lead en route to claiming a non-league victory over the Panthers.

Karlee Fretz and Morgan Lindsay (2-for-4) each drove in pairs of runs, with Sarah Heidler and Taylor Lindsay (both 3-for-4) providing the other RBI. It backed Fretz’s six-hit, five-strikeout complete-game pitching, with only one of Quakertown’s runs earned. OWEN J. ROBERTS 7, WILSON 5 >> The Wildcats tamed the Bulldogs’ late rally and claimed a non-conference win.

Emily Shaheen finished 3-for-4 with a pair of runs scored while Camryn Glenn finished 2-for-5 with a pair of runs scored and two hits out of the lead-off spot. Madison Twaddell had a triple and a

run scored while Brianna Smith had two hits and two RBIs. Brittney Dellaquila scattered five runs (three earned) on 10 hits and no walks. OJR led 6-1 headed in the fifth inning before Wilson nearly pulled even with a four-run bottom half. BOYERTOWN 9, BRANDYWINE HEIGHTS 6 » Kody Streeter went 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored to lead the Bears past the previously-unbeaten Bullets in non-league play.

Sarah Reinert added a 2-for-4 with two runs scored for Boyertown (7-3). VILLA MARIA 5, POTTSGROVE 2» Villa got all its runs in the sixth inning, enough to handle the Falcons in their non-league game.

Rachel Cherubini and Kira Livezey drove in Pottsgrove’s runs. The locals saw their initial 1-0 lead dashed by Villa’s big at-bat, and they were able to manage just onemore run in the seventh.

Baseball

METHACTON 7, HATBOROHOR­SHAM 6 » The Warriors’ second walk-off win of the week came about when Jason Eckman scored Conor Smith from first with a twoout double in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Demetrio Rodriguez, Danny Visnov, Jordan Lukas and Smith each had two hits to help Methacton (5-4) pull even with the Hatters off a five-spot in the sixth. Rodriguez got the pitching win off two innings of nohit, one-walk relief. DANIEL BOONE 9, TWIN VALLEY 0 » Devon Garner and Matt Stevens each finished with a double and a home run during the Blazers’ crossdivis­ional Berks Conference win over the Raiders.

Stevens finished a clean 4-for-4 with two runs scored out of the lead-off spot while Garner finished 3-for-4 with three runs scored and a pair of RBIs. Brett Goodrich and Connor Cleaver combined for the three-hit shutout. OWEN J. ROBERTS 5, WILSON 3 » A three-run fifth enabled the Wildcats to pad a narrow lead on the Bulldogs and secure the non-league victory.

Austin Levengood, Ryan Cusic and Bobby Walker all had RBI for Roberts, which also got 2-for-3 hitting from Walker and Joe Skonieczny. Mike Deviney, throwing one-hit, four-strikeout ball through the first three innings, got the pitching win while Ben Hakun picked up the save. PERKIOMEN SCHOOL 3, QUAKERTOWN 2 » The Panthers pulled even with a two-run fifth inning, then added the game-winner in the bottom of the sixth during a nonconfere­nce win over Quakertown.

David Smith picked up the win, giving up just two hits and a walk in three innings of relief. Nathaniel Urbina had Perk’s lone hit while Josh Cruz and Smith finished with RBIs. Vik Morelock was 2-for-3 for Quakertown.

Boys lacrosse

Shawn Coulter led the Vikings with two goals and two assists as PV relied on another strong defensive showing to pull out with the victory. Kevin Mo made 10 saves in the win for PV, which also got goals from Brian Fehr (one assist), Matt Dudley and Nick Marren. GEORGE SCHOOL 16, PERKIOMEN SCHOOL 5 » The two-goal outings of Miles Longstreth and Harrison Gavin were the highlights for the Panthers in their non-league loss to George School.

Seth Willis scored once to round out Perkiomen’s offense. COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 5, METHACTON 4 » The Warriors were unable to maintain a 4-1 lead in the face of the Indians’ second-half offensive surge.

Ryan O’Toole led Methacton with two goals while Stanley Kolimago and Kyle Derrickson each added one. Jaxson Peoples, Kyle Kacala and Payton Sikora each had assists.

Girls lacrosse

UP got two-goal outings from Hope Flack, Courtney Bauer, Grace Lehman (one assist) and Aiyi Young, with Lauren Weeks, Erika Boyer, Liz Fox, Casey Smoll, Michaela Greczek and Leah Marks each scoring once. Brihanna McIntyre (two) and Ashley Schools did the scoring for Norristown. UPPER MORELAND 13, UPPER MERION 5 » Molly Wegand scored twice to lead the Vikings in a non-league loss to their former Suburban One League foe.

Francesca Lindelow added a goal and an assist with Riley O’Malley and Allison Shuster each scored a goal.
