Earl ‘Chink’ C. Shirey, 91

Earl “Chink” C. Shirey, 91, passed away on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 surrounded by his loving family at his home in Douglassville. He was the husband of Betty P. (Bitler) Shirey with whom he shared 61 years of marriage.

Earl was born July 4, 1925 in Amityville, PA. He was a son of the late Walter Shirey and Katherine (Rickert) Shirey.

Earl liked making homemade caramels and A.P. cakes. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family, friends, and puppies.

In addition to his wife he is survived by: Three Daughters: Kathy L. Doney and her husband, Barry, Boyertown, PA; Sharon E. Robertson and her husband, Steve, Lewis, DE, and Tina M. Turner and her significant other, Bill Dell, Boyertown, PA; One Brother: Elmer Shirey and his wife, Nancy, Birdsboro, PA; Five Grandchildren: Morgan, Matthew, Cortney, Kyle, and Emily, and Six Great-Grandchildren: Cadence, Kaija, Gillyan, Addison, Harper, and Kailyn.

In addition to his parents he is predeceased by: Two Brothers: Walter Shirey, Jr. and George Shirey and Four Sisters: Esther Warren, Betty Novak, Marie Kappenstein, and Etta Helmle.

Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Houck & Gofus Funeral Home, Inc., 955 N. Charlotte St. Pottstown, PA 19464 will be handling the arrangements.
