Police arrest 4 in drug traffickin­g ring

POTTSTOWN >> Pottstown Police have arrested four people believed to be drug trafficker­s after officers served search warrants at the suspects’ homes. Police said they have arrested Kevin Whitlatch, 25, of Queen Street; James Lindsay, 38, of High Street; Akija Johnson, 35, of Chestnut Street and Shonda Moore, 35, of North Franklin Street after finding drugs and weapons in their homes.

The warrants were served in March after Pottstown Police and New Hanover Township Police conducted an investigat­ion into the suspects.

From the homes, police seized heroin, powder cocaine, crack cocaine, marijuana, THC concentrat­es and synthetic cannabinoi­d (K-2). Police said the street value of the drugs was over $10,000. In addition to the drugs, officers also found over $9,000 in cash, $15,000 in bank assets, four handguns, one shotgun and one stun-gun.

All four suspects have been charged with manufactur­e, delivery or possession with intent, use or possession of drug parapherna­lia and intent to possess a controlled substance. Additional­ly, Moore, Johnson and Lindsay have been charged with criminal use of a communicat­ion facility. Whitlatch has also been charged with dealing in the proceeds of illegal activity.

Bail for Whitlatch has been set at $50,000 and bail for Lindsay has been set at $75,000. Johnson’s bail was set at $200,000 and Moore’s was set at $25,000.
