Jean R. Fillman, 85, of Newsmanstown

Jean R. Fillman, 85, of Newmanstown, formerly of Pottstown, died Thursday, April 13, 2017 at the WellSpan Good Samaritan Hospital, Lebanon.

She was the wife of Leonard G. Fillman, Jr., to whom she would have been married 61 years on April 21, 2017.

Born in Allentown, PA on September 9, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Krauss) Fisher.

Jean attended Pottstown High School, and worked with her husband as the business manager for Leonard Fillman Construction. She also worked at Pennhurst State School and Hospital, Spring City, PA. Jean was a loving mother and homemaker. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Linda, wife of Edward Beamesderfer, of Newmanstown; a son, Darrin Fillman, of Mifflintown; grandchildren, Julie and Mike Shirk, and Brett and Carla Beamesderfer; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Janice, wife of Robert Sterner, of Cary, NC, Doris Twardowski, of Pottstown; a brother, Donald, husband of June Fisher, of Reading; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by sisters, Kathryn Gianotti, Regina Casiolo, Frances Geidner, and Gloria Wentzel; a brother, Charles Fisher; and her beloved dog, Angel.

Services will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Christ Lutheran Church, 27 Long’s Church Lane, Womelsdorf, PA 19567.

Grose Funeral Home, Myerstown, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
