In an attempt to win the moment and deflect attention from the issue with Russian hacking, the president just may have put us on a path to World War III. Nothing but a diversion. Planes are using that same air strip today and the carnage continues in Syria.

Given the extent to which teachers, federal judges and journalists have politicized their vocations and perpetuated mediocrity within their ranks, it would be appropriate to dispense with tenure, lifetime appointments and shield law protections for the foreseeable future. Mark Furlong

For all the Obama supporters in Sound Off and you know who you are, you all said that Trump won’t deport illegal criminal aliens. You said he won’t put a ban on Muslims immigrating to the United States. You said he won’t bomb any Middle Eastern country. And he’s done all three. If I were Hillary Clinton I would start getting into prison shape. She may be next.

In response to a reader’s question, Tim Mayza of Pennsburg pitched for the Toronto Blue Jays in spring training and a preseason game against the Pirates in Montreal.

As a homeowner with our new tax that Upper Providence Township added to our tax statement you need to come up with a tax for the people that live in luxury apartments in Upper Providence. Let’s be fair. Tax everyone, not just the homeowners.

This is to the 91-yearold and proud of it. I also heard when Richard Nixon won they said that about him too. Where did he end up?

Now that Gorsuch has been appointed as a new Supreme Court Justice the Republicans now have control of everything so there shouldn’t be any complaints from the Republican side anymore. However I think Gorsuch is a good man. I think he’ll do what’s right. I think he’ll have no problem being sworn in. It’s just that I don’t want to hear any more complaints about the Democrats because they don’t have anything to say anymore.

To the person that said how great Tiger Woods was and how much money he made, how many rounds did it take for him to make all that money? His wife took one swing and got half of it. Now who’s the greatest? JB, Gilbertsville

What is going on at Boyertown High School? Last week a young student tragically died. There was no official notification to the student body or to parents. Word spread quickly among the students. Everyone knew. I find it inexcusable that the principal and staff made no attempt at acknowledging the situation and especially not affording grief counseling to its student body.

To the person saying Tiger is the greatest moneyearner in the history of golf that might be true but that doesn’t make him the greatest player. Back when Sam Snead, Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer were at the height of their game and winning tournament after tournament the prize money was about half or less than half what the prize money is today. So before you call in have all the facts.

If the coal industry is making a so-called comeback why is the Coal Miners Museum in Kentucky getting solar panels on the roof to save money? North Coventry Yankee

I wonder why no one ever makes a frozen TV dinner with roasted duck like for Easter? I would love to have that for Easter and at Christmas time I would love to have roasted goose. I don’t see that anyone ever made that but why?

To the caller who lost their spouse and so-called friends, some of us call them acquaintances, not friends. Why don’t you try the Senior Circle at the hospital, senior adult center on Moser Road or the Spring Street Center at Boyertown? They have all helped me. Sanatoga Sam

Barack Obama, Susan Rice and John Kerry all said they didn’t need force to get rid of chemical gases. They did it diplomatically. Now we know they all lie. Typical for the Dems. You can also give up the Putin and President Trump collusion theory as the bombing disproves that. But wait, that’s all you have as to why Hillary lost the election isn’t it? Now who are you going to blame? Bonnie

Many years ago my people had a saying that when the buffalo return they would come back in power. That was Native Americans and I am Crazy Horse. The buffalo are coming back.

On Monday around 8:14 a.m. I was cut off by a school bus coming off the High Street exit onto Ridge Pike by Sawchuck’s Garage. It was a Perk Valley mini-bus. Every single day I see cars blowing through this yield sign but I just expected more from a bus driver. I guess now I have to be even more careful myself.
