‘Keep the light shining Spring-Ford’

- — Meda Maron Project Outreach

The Gospel of Matthew 5: 14 states “You are a light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and keep it hidden. Instead they put it on a stand and gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way let your light shine before others.”

When I read this scripture, I thought of the Spring-Ford Community. The many churches, schools, businesses, food markets, local clubs, foundations and individuals who contact us, Project Outreach, asking what they can do to help. They indeed are the light in our rural Spring-Ford community.

Because of their caring, our food pantries are filled and families in need receive weekly food supplies. Evictions are stopped and apartments are obtained. Utility assistance is given, homes are heated. Homeless are temporarily housed. Beds are provided for children. A Free Community Thanksgiving meal is shared. Christmas becomes special for our children. Last year 275 children received gifts. Thank you Christ Church of the Valley and those who adopted a child or a family. The list goes on ......

On behalf of our board of directors and those we serve I want to say thank you to the following for keeping the Spring Ford Community lights shining: Our numerous hard working and devoted volunteers; 26 local churches from the greater Spring-Ford area; Giant, Wegmans, and Wawa Markets; Suzy Joes Bakery and Sublime Cupcakes; Spring-Ford area Boy Scouts/3,550 food items collected this year; Royersford Post office yearly food drive, another several thousand items obtained; SpringFord schools/thousands of food items donated over the past three months, and more coming—go Spring-Ford; Saint Vincent De Paul; Salvation Army; Orion Communities; local banks; McCormick Chiropractic; Royersford Women’s Club; Wilkes Butcher Block Pizzeria; The French Quarters Bistro; Bard and Smith Foundations; the Royersford Community Chest; the Royersford Lions Club; the Royersford Rotary; Professional Answering Services; William Penn Villa residents; French Creek Development residents and Plott’s Storage Rentals.

Last but most important is “You the People” who support our mission.

Keep the light shining Spring-Ford.
