Juvenile escapee charged with robbery
A juvenile who left a youth detention facility assaulted a man and stole his bicycle, police said.
LOWER PROVIDENCE » A 55-yearold is recovering from injuries after a 17-year-old boy allegedly assaulted him and stole his bike while the teen escaped from St. Gabriel’s Hall in Audubon Sunday evening.
Officers responded to a report of a strong-arm robbery near the parking area of the Pawlings Road and Station Avenue bike path around 6:20 p.m. Sunday, according to a press release issued Monday by the Lower Providence Township Police Department.
While responding, police received word from Montgomery County Dispatch that a juvenile left the grounds of Saint Gabriel’s Hall — a juvenile detention facility — without permission.
Upon arrival, police spoke with the victim, who was reportedly bleeding heavily from the face. He was treated at the scene by Lower Providence Community Ambulance medics and decided to drive himself to seek further medical treatment, police said.
Upper Providence Township Police located the suspect on the victim’s bike in the 1700 block of South Collegeville Road at 6:51 p.m. and took him into custody.
The suspect was transported to Montgomery County Correctional Facility for processing and detained at the Montgomery County Youth Center.
