Thurman M. Wright Jr., “Bottle”, of Limerick, died Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at Phoenixvil­le Hospital. He was 94 years old.

Born October 5, 1922 in Ambler, he is the son of the late Thurman M. and Edith (nee Tomlinson) Wright Sr. Thurman was preceded in death by his beloved wife Nancy (nee Stackhouse) in 1977.

Mr. Wright was a 1941 graduate of Ambler High School. He served in the Army during World War II and was awarded the Purple Heart for his sacrifice. Thurman spent his career as a machinist with Standard Pressed Steel in Jenkintown until his retirement in 1987.

“Bottle” joined the Wissahicko­n Fire Company in 1955 and was its oldest member. An avid boater, he had been a member of the U.S. Power Squadron. He belonged to American Legion Post 0602 and the Royersford VFW. In his spare time he enjoyed woodworkin­g and doing puzzles.

Thurman is the devoted father of Joan W. Santini (the late Joseph) of Limerick; Eileen T. Wright of Limerick; and Thurman M. Wright III, “Tim” (Philomena) of Perkasie. He is the proud grandfathe­r of 5 grandchild­ren and 7 great-grandchild­ren. He is survived by his brother Frank Wright of Lower Gwynedd and was predecease­d by his sister Wanda Roeger in January.

Relatives and Friends are invited to call on Saturday September 9, 2017 after 9:00AM at the Anton B. Urban Funeral Home, 1111 S. Bethlehem Pike, Ambler, PA 19002. Thurman’s Funeral Service will begin at 11:00AM. Interment will be in Rose Valley Cemetery in Ambler.
