Daniel J. Werstler, 88, of Gilbertsville
Daniel J. Werstler, 88, of Gilbertsville, met his Heavenly Father on Thursday, September 28, 2017, while a patient at Reading Hospital. He was the husband of Gloria (Heydt) Werstler whom he was married to for over 65 years. Born in Colebrookdale, he was the son of the late Gertrude (Johnson) Werstler & the late Warren Werstler.
Daniel worked at Firestone Tire & Rubber Co. and Occidental for over 40 years.
Daniel served in the 148th Fighter Interceptor Squad of the US Air Force during the Korean War. Daniel was a member of The Church of the Good Shepherd U.C.C. and a life member of Friendship Hook & Ladder & Gilbertsville Fire Companies as well the Boyertown American Legion Post 471, the Boyertown Lodge #741 F&AM, P.O.S. of A. Camp 104 in Boyertown.
One of his greatest joys was being with his family. He was a great husband, father and grandfather.
In addition to his wife of over 65 years, Gloria, Mr. Werstler is survived by a son, Dwight D., husband of Deborah L. (Good), Blandon, a grandson, Joshua, a granddaughter, Rebecca, a brother Jacob Werstler of Boyertown; three sisters, Gertrude Leh, Hilda Bortz of Boyertown and Pauline Ford of Northumberland as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Daniel was predeceased by five brothers, Ralph, Henry, Earl, Paul and Ernest; and three sisters, Helen Miller, Amy Shane & Lillian Hartman.
Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 from 9:30am to 10:45am at Morrell Funeral Home, Inc. 124 W. Philadelphia Ave., Boyertown. A Masonic service will be held at 10:45am with a funeral service at 11:00am at the funeral home. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Church of the Good Shepherd U.C.C. Memorial Fund, 35 W. Philadelphia Ave., Boyertown, PA 19512.
