Eastbound 422 to close for construction
POTTSTOWN » Drivers can expect more closures along Route 422 as lanes close for construction.
Eastbound Route 422 in the Pottstown area will be closed and detoured for two nights for resurfacing operations as part of a project to improve and reconstruct 1.2 miles of Route 422 from just east of the Schuylkill River bridge to just west of the Montgomery County line in North Coventry Township, Chester County, West Pottsgrove Township, Montgomery County, and Douglass Township, Berks County, PennDOT announced.
On Monday, Nov. 13, and Tuesday, Nov. 14, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning, eastbound Route 422 will be closed and detoured from the split with Benjamin Franklin Highway in Douglass Township, Berks County, to Route 100 (Pottstown Pike) in North Coventry Township, Chester County. During construction, eastbound Route 422 motorists will be directed to continue on Benjamin Franklin Highway/ High Street and turn right on Route 100 South (Pottstown Pike) to access the ramp to eastbound Route 422.
In addition to the closure of eastbound Route 422, the ramp from the Stowe Interchange (Grosstown Road) to eastbound and westbound Route 422 will close on Monday, Nov. 13, and Tuesday, Nov. 14, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. During the ramp closures, motorists will be directed to use High Street to access eastbound or westbound Route 422.
Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling on Route 422 the work area overnight because backups will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
