Arlan R. Burkert, 78, of Bechtelsville

Arlan R. Burkert, 78, of Bechtelsville, husband of Sandra (Stoudt) Burkert, passed away on Dec. 14, 2017 at Lehigh Valley Hospital.

Born in Fleetwood, he was the son of the late Earl and Helen (Fetterman) Burkert.

Arlan was a teacher in the Pottsgrove School District for 35 years, retiring in 1996. He received his master’s in education from West Chester University and did his undergrad at Kutztown University. Arlan was a member of Cedarville UMC. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, and the Phillies. But most of all, he loved being with is family.

Surviving with his wife of 60 years are sons, Randall, husband of Sheila, and David, husband of Debra; daughter, Jill Detweiler, wife of Steven; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services and interment are private.

All are invited to an informal luncheon to celebrate the life of Arlan on Wednesday, Dec. 20, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Spring Valley Village Club House, Eagle Watch Dr., Bechtelsville.
