Jean Marie Ellsmore Taylor
Jean Marie Ellsmore Taylor: May 29, 1934 - December 8, 2017
Born and raised in Glen Campbell, PA, Jean was recruited to professional women’s baseball. Choosing instead a career in medicine, she came to Philadelphia to earn an Xray Technology Certification. In 1957 she joined the X-ray department of Phoenixville Hospital as an intern and remained there for 42 years, rising to the position of Director of Diagnostic Imaging. She earned further certifications in her field and completed the Associate in Business Administration Degree at Ursinus College. In 1999, she retired as a respected member of the hospital staff and of the larger community, having served Phoenixville organizations and boards during her hospital years.
A member and elder of First Presbyterian Church, Phoenixville, and later of Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church, she was a devoted choir member.
Jean leaves behind a brother and a sister, both of Indiana PA, and an array of dear nieces, nephews and their families. She will be missed by longtime friend and companion, Jan Lawrence Lange, and a large adopted Lange family.
A memorial service will be held on Jan. 5, 2018 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church, 625 Montgomery Avenue, Bryn Mawr, PA 19010. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the SPCA or the Humane Society, or to a charity of your choice.
