Phoenixville Police respond to 154 calls in past week

PHOENIXVILLE »Phoenixville Police responded to 154 calls for service between Feb. 26 and March 4. The following is a summary of notable incidents as reported by Phoenixville Police:

• On Feb. 26 at 12:31 p.m., Officer Fusco stopped the driver of Chevy Cruze after he allegedly blew through the stop sign on Anderson Avenue at Garfield Avenue. The driver, an 18-yearold Phoenixville man, was smoking weed during his ride home and surrendered two roaches to the officer, police said. The driver was issued a ticket for the stop sign violation and was charged with the drug violation.

• On Feb. 26 at 10:35 p.m., a distraught woman came to the police station and reported that she was just assaulted by her boyfriend inside their apartment in the 500 block of Bridge Street. The woman reported that they were arguing about commitment issues and her boyfriend slapped her face and threw her around the apartment. She escaped and ran to the police station. Officers returned to the apartment and arrested Greg Walls, 25, for assault and false imprisonment, police said.

• An officer stopped the driver of a Toyota Corolla for speeding on Starr Street on Feb. 27 at 9:25 a.m. The passenger, a 32-year-old Phoenixville man, had four summary offense warrants, police said. The officer called district court and the judge wanted the man brought directly before her. The man paid $40 on the spot and the judge set up a payment plan for the remainder of his fines.

• On Feb. 27 at 11:18 a.m., a resident in the unit block of Gay Street called 911 to report that she parked her car in a municipal parking lot overnight and when she got in it this morning the car smelled like stale beer.

• Police responded to Super Cuts for the report of an intoxicated person inside the business On Feb. 27 at 7:25 p.m. Officers Rosario and Karpovich spoke to the man outside the salon and he explained that he had the flu and wasn’t feeling well. The 28-year-old Phoenixville man proceeded to vomit on the sidewalk and then told the officers that he actually snorted a bag of heroin an hour ago and it made him ill. The man declined medical treatment and the officers called his mother to pick him up.

• On Feb. 27 at 8:11 p.m., a resident in the 1000 block of Lincoln Avenue reported that his iPad Pro and blue leather case were stolen from his unlocked parked car sometime after Feb. 24 when he last saw the items.

• On Feb. 28 at 2:10 p.m., a 38-year-old resident reported that he was involved in a traffic dispute with a fellow motorist on Valley Road near Route 23. The resident reported that he and the other driver exchanged expletives and hand gestures at the intersection and he wanted to document the incident in case there is further interaction between them.

• On March 1 at 9:09 p.m., police responded to a home in the 100 block of Columbia Avenue for the report of a car parked in the front yard. The driver, 28, of Sound Beach, N.Y., told the officer that he swerved to avoid a deer and ended up in the front yard. The car got stuck in the saturated lawn and had to be pulled out by a tow truck. The driver’s insurance will cover the cost of repairing the ruts in the homeowner’s lawn.

• A resident in the 200 block of Walnut Street called 911 to report that she just smoked some weed and was starting to have strange thoughts on March 1 at 9:56 p.m., police said. The woman was taken to Phoenixville Hospital by ambulance for treatment.

• A 32-year-Phoenixville man reported that he was crossing Bridge Street at Main Street on his bicycle and he was clipped by a black Cadillac on March 1 at 11:18 p.m. The cyclist flipped over the hood of the vehi-

• On March 2 at 11:44 a.m., a 15-year-old student at Phoenixville High School was taken into custody after the principal found unprescribed pills in his backpack. The student will face a juvenile hearing on the drug possession violation.

• On March 3 at 1:28 a.m., police responded to the ER at Phoenixville Hospital for the report of an unconscious woman in the parking lot. A 57-year-old Phoenixville

resident reported that he was giving the woman a ride home from a bar and she passed out. He didn’t know where she lived so he drove her to the hospital. A nurse placed an ammonia stick under her nose and the woman came to. Police said she immediately got nasty with the officers so she was arrested for public drunkenness. The 30-year-old Phoenixville woman was issued a summons and she was released to her aunt at the police station.

• On March 3 at 11:28 p.m., a resident in the unit block of Gay Street reported that someone stole her spoons from the kitchen sink. Officers checked her home and there was no sign that anyone

had broken into her place, according to police.

• On March 4 at 12:15 a.m., police were called to the Prima for the report of two drunken patrons who were refusing to leave. The men, siblings and regulars at the bar, took off when the police pulled up. The bartender added them to the list of people who are banned from the bar.

• Officer Dobry was on bike patrol and saw two men brawling in the middle of Bridge Street and causing a traffic jam on March 4 at 1:06 a.m. The officer separated the men and learned that one was a bouncer from PJ Ryan’s Pub and the other was a patron who had just been ejected from the bar. After he flagged the man, the

doorman realized that the customer left his cell phone in the bar and he ran out to return it to him. The man then attacked the bouncer on the street corner, police said. The 23-year-old man from Cinnaminson, New Jersey began berating the police officers so he was arrested for public drunkenness and disorderly conduct and released when he was sober.

• On March 4 at 2:29

a.m., police responded to the 100 block of Prospect Street for a disturbance. Officer Stabilo encountered a man who was trying to prevent a woman from driving away because she was drunk. The officer spoke to the 35-year-old Norristown woman and encouraged her to call someone for a ride home, which she later did.
