Body found after fire

LOWER PROVIDENCE » Police are withholdin­g the identity of a person found dead Sunday in an aprtment fire on the 2800 block of Ridge Pike until all relatives have been notified.

Montgomery County Emergency Dispatcher­s received a 911 call at 8:08 p.m. from a neighbor who reported hearing a smoke detector alarm and seeing smoke emanating from the apartment, according to a press release is-

sued by Lower Providence Township.

Lower Providence police, fire and EMS personnel responded to the scene and firefighte­rs entered the apartment where they extinguish­ed a fire in the living room. Fire personnel

then removed a person found lying on the ground in the apartment and a medical command physician on scene pronounced the person dead.

Nearby structures were also evacuated by police.

Assistance was provided by the Jefferson, Norriton, Skippack and Collegevil­le fire companies.

The Lower Providence Township Fire Marshal,

Lower Providence Township Police Department, Lower Providence Fire Department, Pennsylvan­ia State Police Fire Marshal Unit, and the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office are conducting a joint investigat­ion.
