Daniel Boone softball downs Twin Valley, heads for BCIAA Championship game
They did the same amount of hitting Friday.
But the Daniel Boone softball team made the most of its safeties ... more than Twin Valley did. And that had a lot of impact on the Blazers winning their Berks County Interscholastic Athletic Association (BCIAA) semifinal game at Lyons, 8-1.
Along with its nine hits, Boone plated five runs in the fourth inning to expand its early 2-0 lead. Fueled by that outburst, the top-seeded Blazers now advance to the conference’s championship game against Brandywine Heights, an 8-1 winner over Kutztown.
The BCIAA Championship game is slated for Sunday at 5 p.m. back at Lyons Field.
Dani Hayes, Hannah Johns and Elizabeth Nitka
each drove in two runs for Boone, which got two-hit outings from Nitka, Caitlin McCrone and Johns. Dani Hayes had a home run among her hits, and Nitka doubled twice.
Heather Hall pitched a complete game, weathering the Raiders’ own nine-hit offense.
