Area congregations schedule special services and events

Hill Church

Boyertown: The Annual Ham Supper will be held from 3 to 7:30 p.m. today at Hill Church Picnic Grove Dining Hall, 620 Hill Church Road. Tickets sold until 7 p.m. All-you-can-eat family style. Cost is adults $11, children 3 to 10 are $5.50, Take-out orders $1 extra.

Butter Valley Community

Bally: Community Yard Sale and Bake Sale will be held on Friday, May 25, and Saturday, May 26, from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Butter Valley Community Church, 2600 Old Route 100. Lunch items available both days. Car Wash by donation on Saturday only from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Free moon bounce on Saturday only from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Benefits Missions.

New Goshenhoppen UCC

East Greenville: A Dinner and Dance will be held from 7 to 10:30 p.m. on Friday at New Goshenhoppen United Church of Christ, 1070 Church Road. There will be a variety of music, good food and fellowship. Cost is $12.

First Presbyterian

Pottstown: Wear something red for Pentecost Sunday at First Presbyterian Church. During the 10:30 a.m. worship the Confirmands will profess their faith and the Celtic Choir will sing. A reception will be held after worship in Fellowship Hall for the Confirmands and families.

St. Luke’s Lutheran

Obelisk: The Praise Service, led by the praise band Messenger, will be held in the Fellowship Hall at 10:15 a.m.

on Sunday at Saint Luke’s Lutheran Church, Route 73 and Neiffer Road.

Centennial Lutheran

Kimberton: Pastor Sandra Ellis-Killian will be presiding at the 9:30 a.m. worship on Sunday at Centennial Lutheran Church, 1330 Hares Hill Road, in Pastor Tancredi’s absence. In recognition of Pentecost, people are encouraged to wear red.

Christ Lutheran

Barto: The second-year Confirmation students, Braden Bartman, Alec Barton, Julia Menear and Evan Shade, will be confirmed and become voting members of the congregation during the 10:15 a.m. service on Sunday at Christ Lutheran Church, 222 Niantic Road. The first-year Confirmation students will read scripture and present the Children’s Sermon during the service. All are invited to the parlor for a Coffee Hour immediately following the 10:15 a.m. service hosted by the Hospitality Committee.

First UCC

Royersford: The Men’s Breakfast Club from First United Church of Christ, 367 Washington St., will meet at 8:30 a.m. at the Collegeville Diner. Worship at 11 a.m. on Sunday will include the celebration of Pentecost with Holy Communion, collection of the “Strengthen the Church” special mission offering, and the baptism of four children. A celebratory lunch will follow.

Calvary UCC

Barto: Confirmation Sunday will be celebrated at the 10:15 a.m. worship as Emma, Genevieve and Hannah are

confirmed at Calvary United Church of Christ, 1231 Route 100. A time of fellowship and food will follow the service.

St. James Lutheran

Limerick: Six young people will be confirmed at the 9 a.m. service on Pentecost Sunday at St. James Lutheran Church, 93 Kugler road. Emma Gubanich, Ellie Hanson, Tori Hanson, Erin Kurian, Jayda Marshall and Lisa O’Donnell will affirm their baptism and be confirmed. The Mother-Daughter dinner will start at 6:15 p.m. on Monday. Magician Bill Boorse will provide the entertainment.

St. Luke Lutheran

Gilbertsville: The Affirmation of Baptism of Travis Jacob will be witnessed at the 9:30 a.m. worship service on Pentecost Sunday at St. Luke Lutheran Church, 35 Wilson Ave., and he will be welcomed as a confirmed member of the church. Please consider wearing red on Sunday, as the sanctuary will be wearing “red” with the red paraments, and geraniums sponsored by numerous members. A coffee hour will follow the service. The youth will be selling their Nonpareil following Sunday’s service. Proceeds will go to funding their attendance at the ELCA Youth Gathering in Houston, Texas. Some proceeds will also benefit the Boyertown Area Multi-Service. The softball team will play an away game at Spring Valley Community Church at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday. The Community Clothing Rack will be open for clothing distribution from 1 to 4 p.m. on Wednesday.

Mount Carmel UMC

St. Peters: A Men’s Fellowship Breakfast will be held at 8 a.m. today at Mount Carmel United Methodist Church, 2203 Harmonyville Road. The agenda will be prayer, breakfast, Bible Trivia, devotional and topic for discussion. For more information contact Mike Nester at 484-7161637. St. Paul’s UCC

Pottstown: A Hoagie and Baked Goods Sale will be held today at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 927 N. Franklin St. Italian hoagies are $6 each and Turkey hoagies are $7 each. Pick up time is between 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

Grace Lutheran

Pottstown: Lydia Masimore and Tyler Bergstresser will re-affirm their baptism in the Rite of Confirmation, which follows two years of instruction in the Lutheran catechism and the Bible, during the 9 a.m. service on Sunday at Grace Lutheran Church, 660 N. Charlotte St. A Said Service will be held at 3 p.m. for those unable to worship at 9 a.m. All are welcome.

Brownback’s UCC

Spring City: The 275th Anniversary Celebration continues with the dedication of the newly refurbished church sanctuary at 10 a.m. on Sunday at Brownback’s United Church of Christ, 640 Ridge Road. Following the service all are invited to Fellowship Hall for Social Hour.

Shepherd of the Hills

Bechtelsville: The Rite of Confirmation will be observed on Sunday at Shepherd of the Hills Church, 527 Hoffmansville Road. Those being confirmed include Courtney Bratten, Kristin Gross, Jahkari Korchowsky, Rachael Moser, Casey Parke and Rachael Smith. The Prime Timers will have lunch at Rebecca’s Home Cooked Meals in Narvon on Thursday, leaving the church at 11:15 a.m.

St. Peter’s Lutheran

Pottstown: Pentecost Sunday/Confirmation Sunday with Holy Communion will be celebrated at 8 and 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 564 Glasgow St. The Rite of Confirmation will be celebrated at the 10:30 a.m. worship service for John Lloyd Boalton, Brianna Leigh Cusick, Ashton Jade Hofer, Katlyn Elizabeth Levengood, Franklin Mann 6th, Rylee Grace Mann and Luisa P. Rogacion. Refreshments will be served following the 10:30 a.m. service by Sandra Levengood.

Zion’s UCC

Pottstown: Rev. Austin Chinault invites worshipers at Zion’s United Church of Christ, Hanover and Chestnut streets, to wear red to the 10:15 a.m. service on Sunday in celebration of Pentecost. All are also invited to a reception for new member Richard Adinolfi and for Pentecost birthday cake for the church. Sunday marks the “Strengthen the Church” (STC) special mission offering. STC largely supports youth ministries and full-time leaders for new churches. These funds will be used to award grants to help congregations communicate the “God is still speaking” message. Church volunteers will prepare and serve the community meal at noon on Friday at Emmanuel Lutheran Church.

Victory Christian

Pottstown: Baptism Ceremony taking place at 5 p.m. on Sunday at the Calvary Christian Center, 426 Laurelwood Road, Pottstown (by Coventry Mall). Light refreshments following the service.

Bethel Community

Pottstown: The third anniversary of Bethel Community Church of Pottstown, 575 N. Keim St., will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday with the Reverend Dr. Marvin A. Marsh, former pastor of First Baptist Church, as guest preacher. The church’s combined choirs will be singing with special selections rendered by Minister Dimitri Horton and Dwight Lamar. All are invited to an “Anniversary Reception” immediately following the celebration in the Community Room.

Coventryville UMC

Pottstown: A Ham and Oyster Dinner will be hosted from 4 to 6:30 p.m. tonight at Coventryville United Methodist Church ,1521 Old Ridge Road. The dinner will be dine in or take out, Cost is $12 for adults, $10 for students and seniors, and kids under 5 are free. A portion of the proceeds will support the Appalachia Service Project which builds and repairs homes for those in need in the Appalachian mountains.
