Phoenixville Police report 68 calls over 3 days

PHOENIXVILLE » Phoenixville Police responded to 68 calls for service, including two traffic incidents, between May 25 and May 27. The following is a summary of some of those incidents as reported by Phoenixville Police on their Facebook page:

• On May 25 at 4:40 p.m., police responded to the 200 block of Bridge Street to check on the wellbeing of a man on a park bench. The caller reported that the man was eating an entire rotisserie chicken and he was concerned because the man was wolfing it down too fast. Officer Karpovich pulled up and the man had just finished and was cleaning up. The man told the officer he was fine… full but fine.

• On May 25 at 11:15 a.m., police responded to the Giant shopping center for the report of an erratic driver in a gray Ford F-150. Officer Karpovich located the driver, a 73-yearold East Pikeland resident, who explained that he ripped around the parking lot after another motorist beat him to a handicapped space, according to police. The officer gave the man a warning about frustrated driving.

• A resident in the Independence Crossing apartment complex reported that someone parked their car in her handicapped space on May 25 at 1:33 p.m. Cpl. Gray responded and informed her that the car displayed a proper handicapped placard and that handicapped spaces are not reserved for individual use. The resident was irritated and thanked the officer for absolutely nothing.

• On May 25 at 3:26 p.m., police responded to the parking lot of the Pickering Creek Inn for the report of a woman beating on a man inside a parked Toyota Camry. Officer Dobry arrived and the woman was sitting in the car drinking a 25 ounce can of Natty Daddy beer, police said. The man was nearby sitting on an abandoned sofa bleeding badly from his face. The injured man told the officer that his wife attacked him while they were driving from Spring City because he refused to stop at a beer store for more Natty. Nefataria Garland, age 40 of Phoenixville, was arrested for assault and the open container violation and sent to the county jail.

• Police responded to the 400 block of High Street for a car crash on May 25 at 8:31 p.m. A 25-year-old woman from Phoenixville was driving her Mercury sedan and a piece of the front suspension popped off causing her car to veer into two parked cars. She was driving with a suspended license from a prior DUI, according to police. The woman was issued a ticket for the violation.

• On May 26 at 1:13 a.m., police responded to the Bistro on Bridge for the report of disturbance. When officers arrived, bouncers had a man pinned to the sidewalk in front of the establishment. The doormen told the officers that the patron was flagged for groping a woman inside the bar and he tried to bull rush them several times after he was tossed out. The 27-year-old man from Glenmoore was arrested for public drunkenness and released when he was sober.

• On May 26 at 7:20 p.m., police responded to the Code Blue Shelter for the report of an intoxicated person on the front porch who was throwing up in the flower bed. Officers arrived and called an ambulance to check on the man. EMTs cleared the man and he was arrested for public drunkenness. Nelson Santiago Navarro, age 43 and homeless, had a pocket full of prescription pills that he purchased on the street so he was charged with the additional drug violation, police said.

• On May 27 at 12:53 a.m.,

police responded to Morris Cemetery for the report of a group of individuals causing a disturbance. Sgt. Sutton discovered two men and two women hanging out in the graveyard. One of the women had an open can of Natty Ice that she indiscreetly tossed aside when she saw the officer approaching. The 46-yearold woman from Barto was drunk so she was issued summons for public drunkenness and the open container ordinance and released to a responsible party, police said.

• On May 27 at 3:20 a.m., Officer Dutch’s tag reader hit on a suspended license plate on a 2009 Jeep Liberty in the 600 block of Nutt Road. The officer stopped the driver, a 20 year old Phoenixville woman, and discovered that she decided to opt out of the whole PennDot regulation thingas she did not have insurance for the car and it was not inspected.
