Po­lice make sev­eral ar­rests dur­ing DUI check­point

EX­ETER » Of­fi­cers made contact with over 1,000 drivers re­cently dur­ing a DUI check­point that was set up last week.

Po­lice said in a re­lease Mon­day that an overnight DUI check­point set up on June 8 on the 700 block of Baum­town Road yielded sev­eral ar­rests in­clud­ing some for drug pos­ses­sion. Po­lice said the fol­low­ing in­ci­dents re­sulted from the check­point:

• 11 DUI ar­rests in­clud­ing drugs and al­co­hol

• Six drug pos­ses­sion charges

• One traf­fic re­lated fraud • 23 traf­fic ci­ta­tions • 19 warn­ings is­sued

In ad­di­tion to these in­ter­ac­tions, po­lice said they handed out pam­phlets with in­for­ma­tion about the dan­gers of DUI to each driver that came through the check­point.

Ex­eter Po­lice par­tic­i­pated in the check­point along with other agen­cies in­clud­ing Cen­tral Berks Re­gional Po­lice, Amity Town­ship Po­lice, Ham­burg Bor­ough Po­lice, Muh­len­berg Town­ship Po­lice, Penn­syl­va­nia State Po­lice, Shilling­ton Bor­ough Po­lice, Dou­glass Town­ship Po­lice, Wy­omiss­ing Bor­ough Po­lice, Spring Town­ship Po­lice, North­ern Berks Re­gional Po­lice and Ex­eter Town­ship Fire Po­lice.
