Assault leads crime in past week

POTTSTOWN »Assault was the most reported crime in Pottstown over the past week.

According to crimemappi­ng.com, a police-run website used to inform the public about crime in their area, seven assaults were reported since Aug. 14. All seven incidents were reported to be non-aggravated incidents and occurred on the 100 block of North Franklin Street, the 300 block of North Hanover Street, West Walnut Street, West Fifth Street, Boone Court, the 300 block of King Street and North Washington Street.

Fraud was the second most reported crime with incidents occurring on East Third Street, West Third Street, the 500 block of West Chestnut Street and South Franklin Street.

Vandalism and burglary were each reported three times over the past week. Vandalism was reported on West Third Street, the 200 block of Shoemaker Road and the 300 block of Cherry Street while burglaries involving forced entry were reported on the 200 block of North Evans Street, Walnut Street and the 200 block of West High Street.

Disturbing the peace, vehicle break-ins and drug and alcohol violations were all reported twice since Aug. 14. Vehicle break-ins occurred on the 100 block of South Keim Street and the 400 block of Lincoln Avenue. One case of public drunkennes­s was reported on King Street along with a case of drug possession on the 300 block of East High Street.

DUI, theft and vehicle thefts were each reported once this past week. A DUI was reported on the 1400 block of East High Street while a retail theft occurred on the 200 block of Shoemaker Road. A vehicle theft was reported on East High Street.
