Substance violations lead crime in Pottstown
POTTSTOWN » Substance violations were the leading crime in Pottstown over the past week.
According to crimemapping.com, a police-run website used to inform the public about crime in their area, 11 incidents involving drug or alcohol violations were reported over the past week. Three cases of public drunkenness were reported on King Street, the 300 block of Manatawny Street and the 100 block of Walnut Street. Five cases of drug possession were also reported since Aug. 28. Those incidents were reported on the 900 block of East High Street, the 400 block of East High Street, the 700 block of Lincoln Avenue, the 100 block of Wilson Street and one incident at an undisclosed location. Two drug sales were reported on the 500 block of King Street and the 300 block of High Street. One incident involving drug manufacture was reported on the 300 block of East High Street.
Six cases of assault were reported since Aug. 28. Four of the six cases were reported to be non-aggravated and occurred on South Evans Street, the 300 block of Cherry Street, the 100 block of North Adams Street and the 200 block of Beech Street. An assault with a dangerous weapon was also reported on the 100 block of North Adams Street and an assault with a knife occurred on the 1600 block of East High Street.
Four thefts were reported
over the past week including two retail thefts and two thefts from buildings. Both retail thefts were reported on the 200 block of Shoemaker Road while thefts from buildings were reported on Beech Street and the 200 block of Shoemaker Road.
Harassment incidents occurred twice since Aug. 28 including incidents on North Hanover Street and Chestnut Street. Disorderly conduct was reported on the 700 block of Farmington Avenue.
Motor vehicle theft was reported twice on the 400 block of Walnut Street and the 400 block of Farmington Avenue.
Vandalism and vehicle break-ins were both reported once with criminal mischief to vehicles reported on the 500 block of Spruce Street and a vehicle break-in reported on East High Street.
