Lane restrictions planned on Route 100
Nighttime and daytime lane restrictions are scheduled next week on Route 100.
The restrictions are planned between Black Horse Road and Route 23 (Ridge Road) in Chester County for construction activities related to a project to improve traffic flow and safety along a 6.3-mile section of Route 100 (Pottstown Pike), PennDOT announced. The work schedule is: • Sunday, September 30, through Friday, October 5, from 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., lane restrictions are scheduled in both directions on Route 100 between Black Horse Road and Route 23 (Ridge Road) in Upper Uwchlan, West Vincent, East Nantmeal and South Coventry townships, for milling and paving operations; and
• Monday, October 1, through Friday, October 5, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., lane restrictions are scheduled in both directions on Route 100 between Black Horse Road and Route 23 (Ridge Road) in Upper Uwchlan, West Vincent, East Nantmeal and South Coventry townships, for installation of pavement markings.
Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work zone because slowdowns and backups will occur during construction. The contractor’s schedule is weather dependent.
As part of this project, crews are working to improve the stretch of Route 100 between Garrison Drive and Route 23 (Ridge Road). The scope of work includes constructing two shoulder-widening pulloffs; installing pavement markings, rumble strips, and guide rail; and resurfacing the corridor with an open-graded surface treatment to increase friction and reduce hydroplaning.
In addition, PennDOT’s contractor is improving the intersection of Route 100 and Route 23 (Ridge Road) by constructing a dedicated northbound leftturn lane as well as updating traffic signals.
Allan A. Myers, LP, of Worcester, Montgomery County, is the general contractor on the $5.6 million project, which is financed with 100 percent federal funds. The entire project is scheduled to be completed later this year.
