The second round of the District One Golf Championships wrapped up on Tuesday afternoon at Turtle Creek Golf Course.

Patrick Sheehan, last season’s runner-up, claimed first overall in the Boys AAA Classification after shooting a 5-under 67 on Tuesday following his even-par finish on opening day.

The Central Bucks East senior survived a one-hole playoff against Central Bucks West’s Luca Jezzeny and Holy Ghost Prep’s Liam Hart to take first place.

He finished with three birdies and an eagle as part of his bogeyfree round Tuesday.

In addition to those top three finishers, seven players from the Pioneer Athletic Conference qualified for the Class AAA Eastern Reional Tournament set for Oct. 15 at Golden Oaks G.C.

In Class AAA, Norristown’s Josh Ryan finished fourth overall at 1-under 145. He was sitting at 1-over entering the day, but fired a 2-under with four birdies to secure himself a spot at regionals.

Behind him, Spring-Ford’s Luke Watson finished tied for seventh overall at 1-over (73-72-145) while Norristown senior Caleb Ryan finished 12th overall at 3-over (74-73147). Owen J. Roberts’ Ryan Glenn finished 5-over (76-73-149) to finish tied for 16th while SpringFord’s Axel Kalbach secured the final spot at 6-over (75-75-150).

Methacton’s Nick Martin just missed the cut, finishing up at 7-over for the tournament while teammate Dylan Lasecki was 11over.

As expected, defending PIAA Class AAA state champion Unionville captured the District One AAA boys’ team championship once again Tuesday, with Holy Ghost Prep in second place. Displaying their depth in talent,

the Indians had four golfers qualify for Regionals — Connor Bennink (77-69146, tied for 10th), Richie Kline (73-73-146, tied for 10th), Will Bennink (73-75148, tied for 13th) and Jack Cooley (73-75-148, tied for 13th).

“The course was in good shape, considering how much rain they’ve gotten,” said Bennink, who fired a three-under-par 69 Tuesday. “With the lift, clean and place in the fairways, it took away some of the mudballs and plugged lies you got in the fairway. My iron play was my strength today — yesterday I drove it a little better, but today my approach shots were giving me birdie chances and keeping me out of trouble.”

In Class AA, Pope John Paul II’s Alex White finished at 28-over — one stroke behind New HopeSolebury’s Kyle Sullivan — to secure a spot at regionals. He edged out freshman Paul Brady, who finished up at 30-over.

Luke Wilson of Spring-Ford sets his ball on the seventh hole of the PIAA District 1 Golf Championship at Turtle Creek Tuesday.
