Delahaye, OJR girls soccer clinches PAC Liberty title

Hannah Delahaye’s header in overtime gave the Owen J. Roberts girls team a 2-1 victory over Spring-Ford Tuesday night, clinched the Pioneer Athletic Conference Liberty Division championsh­ip in the process.

Kenzie Milne gave Owen J. Roberts a lead on a shot from distance late in the second half but Spring-Ford’s Ella Curry leveled the match with just 2:24 to play, forcing overtime.

OJR improved to 8-0-1 Liberty, 11-0-1 PAC and 15-0-1 overall, ensuring it the No. 1 seed for next week’s PAC playoffs, set for Tuesday at Owen J. Roberts. SpringFord goes to 6-3, 9-3, 10-4 but clinched a playoff spot. PERKIOMEN VALLEY 2, BOYERTOWN 0>> Nikki Foller-Moll struck twice for the Vikings in a must-win over the Bears. PV improved to 7-3-1 in the PAC (8-5-1 overall) and is chasing a PAC wild card place. Pope John Paul II is nearest at 7-4. PHOENIXVIL­LE 1, UPPER PERKIOMEN0>> Gabrielle Perrotto’s firsthalf strike held up as Phoenixvil­le downed Upper Perkiomen, 1-0, in Pioneer Athletic Conference Frontier Division action.

Ella Stout registered four saves to pick up her third clean sheet of the season for the Lady Phantoms, while Hannah Landis notched four saves of her own for the Tribe in a losing effort. METHACTON 9, NORRISTOWN 0 >> Lauren McNichol’s two-goal outing headed a balanced, potent offensive for the Methacton girls soccer team Tuesday.

The Warriors had 12 players contribute goals and assists — or both. Kendall Ozorowski had one goal and two assists and Maggie Bordonaro added a goal and assist for Methacton. The Warriors’ other goals came from Jess Lineen, Julia McCann, Madia Mazzucola, Michaela Tommarello and Trish Patel.

Kate Evans (two), Misa Kasparcova and Morgan Richardson also getting credit for assists. For the Warriors, goalkeeper sisters Liz and Kate Greene combined for one save to earn the shutout.

POPE JOHN PAUL II 2, POTTSTOWN 0 >> Julie Cherneskie and Julia Hull scored the goals that lifted the Goden Panthers over the Trojans in PAC Frontier Division play.

Assists were credited to Maddie D’Elia and Lauryn Rezza. Stacey Kormos needed to make just three saves in goal for the shutout while Emme Wolfel had 12 for Pottstown. PERKIOMEN SCHOOL 6, DELVAL FRIENDS 0 >> Serena Diliberto’s two-goal showing led the Panthers in their Tri-County League roll over Delaware Valley Friends.

Sasha Vassallo, Rianne Moll, Cece Vassallo and Maddi Springman completed the scoring for Perkiomen, which opened a 4-0 lead in the first half.

Boys soccer

SPRING-FORD 5, OWEN J. ROBERTS 3 >> The Rams came storming back from down 3-1 to score the game’s final four goals and clinch the PAC Liberty Division championsh­ip. Brett Gulati had three goals and Colin Trainor had a goal and three assists for SF. SpringFord is 8-0-1, 11-0-1, 13-1-2. BOYERTOWN 2, PERKIOMEN VALLEY 0 >> Goals by Ryan Burkhardt and Colin Brisbois fueled the Bears’ shutout of the Vikings in PAC Liberty Division play.

Chris Davis and Gavin McCloskey were credited with assists on the Boyertown goals. Mason Kurtz made six saves in goal to secure the clean sheet. POTTSGROVE 3, UPPER MERION2>> Ethan Pace figured in on all the Falcons’ goals as they edged the Vikings in PAC Frontier Division play.

Pace assisted on Collin Deckert’s game-opener at the 37:13 mark of the first half, later assisting on Caleb Hochstehl’s tally with 13:34 remaining in the first half. He then scored on a penalty kick with 31 seconds left in the game.

The Falcons (6-2-1, 6-5-1, 9-6-2) can win the Frontier Division with a win over Phoenixvil­le Thursday. POPE JOHN PAUL II 9, POTTSTOWN 2 >> Sean LaPree and Zach Murtaugh each scored twice to help the Golden Panthers roll up a big victory on the Trojans in PAC Frontier Division action.

Salvy Marano (one assist), Brett Leighton, Calvin O’Neill, Ricky GomesGarci­a and A.J. Williams also scored as PJP padded its 4-0 first half lead with five more in the second half. PERKIOMEN SCHOOL 3, PHELPS SCHOOL 1 >> Zach Kratz and Owen Taylor each figured on pairs of goals for the Panthers in their victory over Phelps.

Kratz and Brock Reber scored Perkiomen’s first two goals, with Taylor assisting both. The third came from Jayden Kemp, with an assist from Kratz. WEST-MONT CHRISTIAN 7, COVENTRY CHRISTIAN 0 >> Sam Landis and Sergio Gonzales each scored pairs of goals to lead the Wings’ Atlantic Coast Christian AC romp over Coventry Christian.

Tyler Fox, Ezra Fagan and Caleb Fitzmier came up with solo tallies for WestMont.

Field hockey

POPE JOHN PAUL II 3, POTTSTOWN 1 >> Madisan Green’s hat trick provided the Golden Panthers all the offense they needed to handle the Trojans in their PAC Frontier Division contest.

Green had one of her goals in the first half, the other two in the second. Pottstown’s point came from Destri Roye in the first half. POTTSGROVE 2, UPPER MERION0>> The Falcons capped their Senior Night ceremonies by shutting out the Vikings in PAC Frontier Division play.

Katie Bean deflected Riley Simon’s ball into the goal with three minutes left in the first half. Jayde Yorgey provided the Falcons an insurance score 13 minutes before game’s end. UPPER PERKIOMEN 5, PHOENIXVIL­LE 2 >> Abriana Gatto scored two goals to help the Indians ring up a PAC Frontier Division victory over the Phantoms.

Margo May, Luci Carpenter and Bella Carpenter completed UP’s scoring. FLEETWOOD 4, DANIEL BOONE 0 >> Casey Lynn Dewald and Mikaela Kaskey each had a goal and an assist to lead the Tigers over the Blazers (2-7-1, 6-8-1).

Fleetwood clinched the second playoff berth in Berks II with the win. Ashley Finkbiner gave Boone eight-save goaltendin­g.

Boys golf

PERKIOMEN SCHOOL 231, CHURCH FARM 273 >> The Panthers improved their season record to 6-1 with a win over Church Farm School at Coatesvill­e Country Club.

Drew Steinmetz was low man for Perkiomen with a 38, followed by teammates Ben Griffaton (44), Zach Smith (48), Aidan Carr (50) and Thomas Dormer (51).

Boys cross country

BOONE GOES 2-1 >> The Blazers made a strong showing in a four-school Berks Conference meet that included Wilson, Twin Valley and Oley Valley. Boone outran the Bulldogs (23-32) and host Lynx (24-31) but was bested by the Raiders, 19-39.

Alex Pingitore was the Blazers’ top finisher, placing third in 18:50.08 behind TV’s Dylan Servis (18:37.08) and Griffin Schlegel (18:41.99. Max Stefanelli followed Pingitore in eighth place, with Jacob Santos 13th and Riley Houck 14th.

Girls cross country

BOONE SWEEPS >> The Blazers went 3-0 in a fourschool Berks Conference meet that included Wilson, Twin Valley and Oley Valley. Boone outran the Bulldogs (24-34), Raiders (26-32) ahd host Lynx (18-44).

Vivian Kase was Boone’s top runner, placing third in 22;31 behind TV’s Gina Mattera (22:16) and Wilson’s Emily Velez (22:25). Ashley Benoit added a sixth for the Blazers, followed by teammates Hannah Santos (eighth), Olivia Poore (10th) and Carlina Davis (11th).

Girls tennis

DOWNINGTOW­N WEST 4, SPRING-FORD 1 >> A win at second doubles was the lone point the Rams scored against the Whippets in the District 1-AAA Team Tournament.

Emma Griffin and Lucy Olsen posted a 5-7, 6-4, 1311 victory over West’s Kayla Grignano/Lily Zebluim tandem. Spring-Ford’s next best effort came at first singles, where Tori Alexander extended the Whippets’ Jordan Bradley to three sets. PERKIOMEN SCHOOL 4, DELVAL FRIENDS 1 >> The Panthers spotted Delaware Valley Friends a point at first singles, then won out the rest of the way for a TriCounty League victory.

Perkiomen’s best individual showing came at first doubles, where Maki Ashizawa and Kristine Rivera won in an 8-0 pro set.

Girls volleyball

PHOENIXVIL­LE 3, PENN WOOD 0>> The Phantoms swept their non-league match by set scores of 25-11, 25-13 and 25-6.

Statistica­l leaders for Phoenixvil­le were Courtney Horgan (nine aces, 19 assists), Kayla Grammersto­rf (four aces, 15 kills) and Romina Broglia (five aces, two kills). WEST CHESTER HENDERSON 3, SPRING-FORD 2 >> The Rams extended the Warriors to five sets in their non-league contest. Henderson won with set scores 25-23, 14-25, 25-21, 22-25 and 15-12. COVENTRY CHRISTIAN 3, WEST-MONT CHRISTIAN 2 >> The Wings extended Coventry Christian to five sets before yielding this Atlantic Coast Christian AC match. Set scores were 20-25, 2225, 27-25, 25-13 and 11-15.

Rachel Hetrick had 28 assists and four kills for West-Mont, with Kara Newton adding eight kills, four digs and two aces.
