Jon was born December 26, 1957, in Pottstown, to Gerald Frank and Mary Jane (Kutz) Batten. He was a graduate of Pottstown High School and Kutztown University, earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration.
From June 2014 until October 2017, Jon worked for DL Services Group Inc. in Fairview Village as a Dispatcher/Recruiter, gaining a reputation for his gift of gab. Many of Jon’s early childhood antics are family-legendary, from treeclimbing for a dance on the roof of a neighbor’s home to diving board stunts at North End Swim Club. He was a fitness buff and avid Philadelphia Eagles football fan, with neighbors reporting loud cheers from his home during the Eagles Super Bowl win.
In addition, Jon was a devoted uncle to his four youngest nieces – Gift, Assata, Noemi, and Michelline. He was a regular attendee at music and dance performances and accompanied them to enjoy vacationing at Walt Disney World.
Jon attended First Baptist Church, King and Charlotte Streets, Pottstown. A memorial service will be held at the church on Monday, October 22 at 11:00 AM. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
