Hill School boys soccer tops Mercersburg, 3-2
Eight may currently be enough for The Hill School’s boys soccer team ... but that may not be the case for the future.
Chance Antonio’s goal in the 72nd minute proved the game-winner for the Blues in Saturday’s game with Mercersburg Academy. A 3-2 victory secured for the Hill a Mid-Atlantic Prep League-best eight championships, and it came in a duel of previously-unbeaten league entries.
Antonio’s tally in the 72nd minute was the first of his career. Host Mercersburg opened the scoring in the sixth minute, converting a corner kick only to have The Hill answer with a corner kick goal of its own two minutes later from co-captain Aidan Sullivan with Sam Becket on the assist. Becket assisted on a Josh Shepherd ‘20 goal a few minutes before intermission to send The Hill up 2-1.
Mercersburg scored on yet another corner to tie the match at 2 in the 55th minute before Antonio’s banger from 25 yards out. Alan Kim added two-save goaltending for the Hill.
