Alan Francis Richter, age 86, husband of the late Barbara (Freeman) “Bobby” Richter, of Oaks, Pennsylvan­ia, passed away peacefully on October 24, 2018, at Columbia Cottage, Collegevil­le.

Born on September 26, 1932 in Philadelph­ia, Pennsylvan­ia, he was the son of the late Albert and Frances (Young) Richter.

Alan received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineerin­g from Drexel University in 1957, and his Master of Science Degree in 1964. He worked as a draftsman with the Philadelph­ia Electric Company from 1950 1952, was an engineer with Modjeski and Masters from 1957 1962, would go on to work for Sanders & Thomas in Pottstown, from 1962 1988, and would later retire as President and Chief Operating Officer of STV Engineers. Alan was registered as a Profession­al Engineer in all 50 states and the District of Columbia, and was involved in many organizati­ons such as the American Society of Civil Engineers, American Society of Highway Engineers, Society of American Military Engineers, and the Engineers Union League.

He was also very proud of his military background and served as a Captain in the United States Army from 1957 1964.

Mr. Richter is survived by two sons, Alan F. Richter Jr., husband of Rose (Serak); Scott L. Richter, husband of Carolyn (Sinowitz); and two daughters, Lisa J. McNamara, wife of Paul McNamara; and Valerie J. Vieth. He is also survived by 11 grandchild­ren, Jason, Jannine and Melissa Richter; Brian and David McNamara; Jeny and Jeffrey Vieth; and Julia, Michelle, Lindsay, and Ella Richter.

In addition to his parents and loving wife, Mr. Richter was pre deceased by his sister, Gaynell J. Smith.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Graveside Memorial Service at the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Cheltenham Avenue & Ivy Hill Road, Cheltenham, Pennsylvan­ia on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at 11:30 am. Burial will take place in the family lot following the committal services. Contributi­ons may be made to American Cancer Society, 480 Norristown Rd., Suite 150, Blue Bell PA 19422.
