Take a look at what friends and neighbors are saying about local hot topics and join in on the conversation.

If speaking the truth is divisive so be it. To say our country was strong and productive under the last administration is a joke. Our world standing was never weaker and blatantly disrespected. Who was in the White House when the Russian meddling happened but then the hot mic spoke for itself. God bless the USA.

This is to Dr. Jimbo. You said about the illegals bringing diseases here. If they’re bringing tuberculosis how can they walk 3,000 miles, most people can’t hardly even breathe. And besides that when we go visit Costa Rica for vacation how come we don’t bring all the diseases back with us? Think about that. —Jay Miller

I looked at the picture of the caravan heading north towards the U.S. and thought wow, that has to be the longest unemployment line in history. —Jim Fitch

Baby Trump, you are right, not all of them are coming for just gimme, gimme, gimme, some of them are coming for jobs. I don’t mind them coming when they come legally not sneak across the border, but when they get here they still take up school, health care, free food. This is not a guarantee for them. —JB, Gilbertsville

In case you haven’t figured it out yet, the Democrats are far from poor. We don’t listen to the fake news so we will see what happens to Medicare and Social Security. —LM

Waitresses and waiters who work at local restaurants only make minimum wage. When you’re leaving a 10 percent tip on a $15 bill you might as well leave nothing. It’s 25 percent minimum. Why don’t you people in this area loosen up a little and tip properly. It’s a disgrace.

Now that the elections are over and we’re not going to talk a lot of politics in Sound off, let’s discuss these crosswalks to nowhere. We’ve got crosswalks with no sidewalks going to them.

The election is over. No more political phone calls or ads in the mail or on TV. If you read or listened to them you learned both parties said the other party’s candidate was a no-good horse thief. Now I hope we have elected the best horse thief. The horse whipping between the parties must stop. It’s dividing our country. It’s time for the horse thieves to think of the ones who voted for them and what they really want. After all we pay for the taxes to support them.

I have a confession to make and it’s that I did not vote. I know I should have but after thinking long and hard about how I’ve elected politicians in the past and they didn’t keep their promises and new ones who are making promises and more than likely won’t keep them I decided to just sit this one out. It’s probably not the right thing to do but that’s what happens when you start losing faith in the system. I might vote next time but who knows.

This past storm we had a lot of trees down here in Pottstown. They thought they had a tornado come through but it wasn’t. Also, there’s a lot of leaves on the trees and they packed over the storm drains because they’re now using these bicycle storm drains and that won’t allow leaves or anything else to go down there. They just get backed up and it causes the streets to flood.

As a resident of Pottstown I would like to know how we go about getting something done? The storm drains need to be cleaned. Now this is about the sixth time I’ve been calling into Sound Off for this and nothing gets done. I think it’s time we fire everybody down there and get all new people in there. They can drive around their new trucks and go to Wawa for two hours at a time and do nothing.

Pennsylvania is one of only six states with an inheritance tax and one of two within this select group without an exception for descendants. Taxes such as these contribute to our declining tax base by incentivizing individuals to move elsewhere. —M. Furlong

The reason Mayberry was so peaceful and quiet was because nobody was married. Andy, Aunt Bee, Barney, Floyd, Howard, Guber, Gomer, Sam, Ernest, Helen, Thelma Lou, Clara and of course Opie were all single. The only married person was Otis and he stayed drunk. —Sarcastic Sam

I remember years ago there were two poor families in our neighborhood and all the other neighbors took up a collection. I remember my mother gave them $50 which was a lot of money in that time and I said “Can’t you give them more?” My mother said “One thing you’re going to have to learn, you can’t save the world.” Sound Off is a forum to spur dialogue from residents of the communities we serve on topics of interest in those communities.
