Police standoff ends peacefully

DOUGLASS (MONT.) >> A standoff at a Douglass (Mont.) Township home ended peacefully Thursday night after several area police department­s responded to the home.

According to reports at the scene, police from at least five area department­s were involved in a stand-off Thursday night at a house at the intersecti­on of Montgomery Ave. and 4th St. in Douglass (Mont.) Township.

Police at the scene said a man who was wanted for a hit-and-run crash and other charges ran into the house after police tried to stop his car near the Town Center Shopping Center.

The man, who was not identified by police, later exited the home and was taken into custody.

Police were aided by a K-9 unit as officers surrounded the house trying to talk the man out. The situation ended peacefully around 9:30 p.m.
