Hill girls handle Agnes Irwin
A quartet of sixth-formers paced The Hill School girls’ basketball team in Thursday’s 46-27 victory over Agnes Irwin.
Olivia Matto scored 11 of her 13 game-high 13 points during a strong first half by the Blues, which saw them build a 33-14 lead by halftime. Alexa Giacche added all seven of hers in the early going.
Qiana Vigo and Amelia Sniffin were also productive in the first half, netting a respective five and four points. Vigo finished the game with 10 points, and Sniffin with seven.
The Hill, improving to 3-1 with the win, will next travel to Virginia this weekend. The Blues will face Paul VI Catholic in the Art Turner Memorial showcase Sunday. PERKIOMEN SCHOOL 47, AC. OF NEW CHURCH 10 >> The Panthers rolled over Academy of the New Church in their non-league game.
Chardae Stone was Perkiomen’s leading scorer with 15 points. Maddi Springman followed with 10 points, and Tera Heintz with nine.
SPRING-FORD BREAKS EVEN >> The Rams marked their program’s inaugural match by breaking even with Plymouth Whitemarsh. The boys swept the Colonials 4-0 while the girls lost to PW by a similar score.
Matt Hanson and Bobby Schneeweis were SpringFord’s leading scorers with respective series of 659 and 625. The Rams’ other top series were posted by Matt Anderson (479), Jared Bowman (457) and Brennan Doan (451).
On the girls side, SpringFord was headed by Ashley Hudak (349) and Sara DeRosa (322). Ashley Della Guardia (299), Lauren Black (280) and April Deyoc (266) also figured in the Rams’ scoring.
