Sylvester leads PJP past Wyomissing

Elise Sylvester scored a gamehigh 15 points to lead the Pope John Paul II girls basketball team to a 42-32 win over Wyomissing at the Pottsgrove Tip-Off Tournament on Friday night.

Sylvester had a 3-pointer and made 8 of 10 attempts from the free throw line while Tess Crossan scored eight points and Lauren Ciuba added seven. Lily Seyfert paced Wyomissing with 12 points. ALLENTOWN CENTRAL CATHOLIC 40, POTTSGROVE 24 » The Falcons didn’t have an answer for Emily Kidd and Emily Vaughan who combined for 25 points during this game at the Pottsgrove TipOff Tournament.

Riley Simon and Emma Yaccarino had five points apiece for Pottsgrove. PHOENIXVIL­LE 61, INTERBORO 24 » The Phantoms got their season off to a flying start, rolling up a victory over Interboro in the opening round of their Phoenixvil­le TipOff Tournament.

Ameerah Green hit for 22 points and made three steals to head Phoenixvil­le, with Aubrie Breisblatt adding 14 points, 10 rebounds and four assists. Marlee Brown chipped in with eight points and five assists while Nailah Green had another nine points. METHACTON 42, RIDLEY 33 » A 17-2 first quarter allowed the Warriors to cruise in their opener as host of the Methacton Tournament.

Freshman Nicole Timko had

a sparkling debut with a game-high 18 points (three 3-pointers) and Sydney Tornetta added 10 for the Warriors. Methacton meets Lansdale Catholic in the championsh­ip Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
