Take a look at what friends and neighbors are saying about local hot topics and join in on the conversation.

For once and for all the border wall will not be built. Mexico will not pay for it nor will the American people pay for it. Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer made that clear on Tuesday. Pelosi gave Trump a civics lesson while Schumer got Trump to admit that he will be responsible for any government shut down if it happens. This infuriated Trump to no end. By the way the mannequin sitting next to Trump was Mike Pence. #noborderwallever.

I’d like to give out a big thank you to the employees at Walmart, Dee and the nurse that was in the line next to us who all came to my husband’s medical emergency on Dec. 7, also the EMT employees who transported him to Phoenixville Hospital. He had a sudden drop in his blood pressure and came home after four hours and is doing much better. Thank you to all those that helped and have a wonderful holiday season.

The problem with behavior today is simple. Kids today don’t know the fear of hearing leather rapidly being removed through seven Wrangler belt loops.

To the climate change doubters, here are a few facts. First, it’s not the dayto-day weather changes that matter. It’s the overall climate pattern which is gradually getting warmer with increased ocean temperatures resulting in melting glaciers and polar ice caps which will gradually flood coastal areas. There are many other manifestations including more severe hurricanes and adverse effects on animal and plant species.

I’d like to thank the Pottstown Borough Council. Such a wonderful job raising taxes incredible amounts. I wonder why people don’t want to live here? All this does is make people rent their houses out or sell them. And what do they get when they rent them in Pottstown? Section 8. Good quality people come here. Just wonderful. Thank you borough council. Typical Democrat move. Can’t think of something new so let’s raise taxes.

I can’t believe you people put Wolf back in. Have you noticed that the school and property taxes keep going up? I know you renters don’t care but your rents are going to go up too. This is ridiculous. What are the kids learning? What are they doing with this money? Oh I know, their pockets are getting fatter and we’re getting poorer. We need to get rid of him.

What is wrong with you people? We need to get rid of this school tax instead they keep putting it up and up.

Well we all know that the parties use an elephant for the Republicans and a donkey for the Democrats. Well the other day we really saw the part of it coming out by Pelosi and Schumer.

To senior citizens who have a Septa free ride ID card, in September Septa went to a new card. If you have the old card it will not scan and they will not accept it. You need to go to the Septa Transportation Center in Norristown or Philadelphia to get one or replace your old one. The free ride on Septa is only the one thing that Pennsylvania did right for us senior citizens.

Did you see in The Mercury where the senior citizens are getting a 2.9 percent raise in their Social Security? Now did you read Wednesday’s Mercury where Pottstown’s budget is going up 9.5 percent? All because of these schools, we need this and we need that, swimming pools, air conditioning. God giveth and the school board taketh away.

Kudos to the outstanding professional cast of the Christmas concert at First Baptist Church. What an excellent way to start the Christmas season. A great time was had by all.

Lady Di, Robert Mueller enlisted in the Marines after college but because of his knees he was listed as unfit for combat. He went to rehab for months until he was released for combat then went to Ranger school before being sent to Vietnam where he received the bronze star for saving many of his men when they were in battle. Mueller never complained about his knees or Trump’s bone spurs. Sound Off is a forum to spur dialogue from residents of the communities we serve on topics of interest in those communities.
