YORK, PA. >> The trial of a man accused of gunning down a clerk at a central Pennsylvania gas station during a botched robbery has ended in a mistrial.

Jurors in York County deliberated for about 4½ hours Friday but were unable to reach a unanimous verdict in the charges in the slaying of 44-year-old Aditya “Sunny” Anand.

Thirty-year-old Mark Ellis remains charged with first- and second-degree murder. A retrial date hasn’t been set.

Jurors repeatedly watched surveillance footage of the October 2017 slaying at the Exxon convenience store in York.

Defense attorney Korey Leslie pointed out that another man was initially named as a suspect. He also pointed to a lack of forensic evidence against his client and questioned the credibility and motives of some prosecution witnesses.
