James V. Ottaviano, Sr., 93, of Pottstown

James V. Ottaviano, Sr., beloved husband of the late Helen (Sperat) Ottaviano, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and greatgreat-grandfather, passed away at his home on January 11, 2019, at the age of 93.

Born in Stowe, he was the son of the late Germano and Madeline (Canceliere) Ottaviano.

He graduated from Pottstown H.S. in June 1943 and served his country from July 1943 until 1946.

He resided in the same home in Pottstown since 1955. While living in that home he was fortunate to retire from Bethlehem Steel and Montgomery County. He was a member and manager of the Maria Assunta Lodge from 1948-1995. When he wasn’t at the Lodge, he would spend time with his extended family and rooting for Notre Dame and the Yankees.

Jim was a member of St. Aloysius RC Church. He was a 3rd Degree member of Father Bally Council #1192 Knights of Columbus of Stowe, and a 4th Degree Knight of Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen Assembly #3046.

He is survived by a son, James Ottaviano, Jr. (Bonnie), and a daughter, Kathleen Marchek (Lawrence).

He is also survived by 5 grandchildren and their spouses, 8 great-grandchildren and 1 greatgreat-grandchild. Also, a sister, Florence Long. He is predeceased by his brother Edward and his sister Anna May Sovia.

A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Aloysius on Sat. Jan. 19 at 11 AM. Interment will be at St. Aloysius Cemetery immediately following Mass. A viewing will take place on Friday evening, Jan. 18 from 6:00-8:30 at Warker-Troutman Funeral Home, High St, Pottstown. Viewing also on Sat. from 9:00 -10:15 at the funeral home.
